Very handy , far better than the maggots,
Was a good time to be a DR. Money was there if ye were prepared to work for it. No GPS or PDAs/smartphones so the handy lads who had good street knowledge , knew how to use (and abuse) a open call circuit could do really well.
Still miss the buzz. Sometimes the best job in the world, 10 minutes later it could be the worse.
10 years of despatching as left me with a legacy of aches and pains , an intolerance of sitting in traffic and the ability to make fast safe progress through traffic.
Rode my Pan euro with a full touring load (not the best bike to hustle through the bottlenecks)through the centre of London last year at the height of the morning rush hour rather than plod round the M25 just for the buzz and the trip down memory lane - 10 years on and it felt like I had never been away.

I prefer to call it an "aggressive driving style" - once learnt in London - you can negotiate anywhere in the world
