Spot lights

Anyone got any experience fitting and also recommendations for particular spot lights? Looking for bright easy to fit ones for a Deauville thats currently running in stealth mode, so that other clowns sharing the road may see her a bit easier!

Re: Spot lights

Pick up some construction floodlights from your local builders providers and strap a gennie to the back, you will never be not seen again!

I put two 30w spots on my bandit. I wired them into the dipped headlight. Makes a big difference. That way they switch off when the starter is in use.

Get Led spots
very low current required
It is an 'ugly' light and will be seen

You hope!!!!....
Tell it to the guy that got me in early December. 'I'm really sorry I didn't see your headlight and the LED spots either side of the headlight'.
It was dark but as usual with a SMIDSY he was searching for a bigger target and in a hurry so just pulled out in front at the last second. Luckily I wasn't travelling too fast due shite weather and conditions etc

Apparently illegal

Was a safety seminar by ex cop and first responder.

They went through this topic.
They didn't exactly say not to fit extra lights but said it in every other way.

Not illegal AFAIK but if you fit additional spots on a cage they will more than likely cause a fail for beam alignment during NCT. The solution when fitting additional spots to a cage is to have them on a separate switch fed from the dipped beam circuit. Turn up for the test with that circuit switched off and your grand

There's no NCT for bikes (yet!) so no one qualified or with the legal powers to prevent you fitting them. The gardai are not qualified to do any mechanical or electrical inspection nor do they have the legal power to do so.

Re: Spot lights

Look for "Creed" LED lights on ebay or amazon, there's plenty of cheap options with all different sizes and shapes to best match your bike.

I'll highly advise hooking up the lights with a relay and fuse so you create a separated circuit. Handy enough to do and loads of youtube videos out there on how to do it.

But they do have the power to seize your bike and impound it until it can be inspected by an "expert" and then they'll decide how to proceed.
In other words, say goodbye to your bike for 2 years or more.

Fuck me that's some markup. €60 for 2... They're $5 a piece from China.
