Arai Helmets are shite

There. I said it.

Fookin 80 year old design with crap side pods and a paddy hat style appendage above the visor to keep the glare out, weigh about 3 tons dry and cost more than genuine dodo sperm with a SHARP rating lower than putting a plastic bucket on your head. Bah tosh....

Fair comment. Totally agree with the genuine dodo sperm part

If ya scoop all that dodo sperm out of your arse, it'll start letting the shit flow the right way. Seems to be spilling out you gob at the mo :lbhbh::lbhbh:

Take the nice paint jobs away and there's nothing left worth a shite.

They're the Apple of the helmet world.

Yep, got one a few years ago after a sales lad convinced me I'd be mad to use anything else. Utter shite, fell apart bit by bit after a year. I'll stick with a nice AVG now.

Anyone that has problems with side pods doesn't know how to change visors properly.

The only problems I've had with the side pods were the lugs snapping off. It's happened twice and for no apparent reason. Both times I just arrived home from a spin and the bottom lug had snapped off, and it was two different helmets.
I've had plenty of vents fall out/break though, and other bits fall off, like the rubber at the bottom of the chin.

There are worse helmets but I reckon most of the Arai range should be in the same price bracket as Shark helmets... and other such inferior shite :lbhbh:

So far no problems with either of my Arai RX-7V lids.

But sure that may change.:lbhbh:

One thing though, they are quite a heavy lid, when compared to my X-Lite or HJC.

Was thinking that the RX-7V being a race lid,it would be light, but its not.

Re: Arai Helmets are shite

Was hesitant in getting Arai Helmet, kind of forced into it, had a HJC for years nothing wrong with it but anyway I just got my 5 years out of my Arai. Yeah its a bit battered, Damn Nifty Fifty racing and some other races skidding down the road on my head but never a days bother with it.:thumbsup2: Don't know what I'll by next though.:wassat:

Agree with some of the comments, the side pod gizmos are dog shit. I’ve tried escaping, but nothing else fits me.
I’d love to know if anyone has gone from Ary to ? and can give a positive report.

Re: Arai Helmets are shite

When I had a severe accident in July 2008 which resulted in many months of a hospital stay, an accident where my head against a gate pillar, and many bones fractured, a low/mid priced Takachi helmet was the one bit of gear that fully did its job. Lines to sell overpriced helmets like a 'five Euro helmet for a five Euro head' or whatever (I forget the salesman's words but roughly like that) were something I was wise not to heed.

says the fella with the degree in brain surgery.....what a fookin cheap assed, out-dated system on a grands worth of lid, too fookin lazy to invest in R&D for whats on cheap ass 100 lids for the last five years. Dont get me started on the shitty noisy vents that break in a heavy shower.... :biggrin_old:
