Why is Nitromors gone so crap

This stuff used to work; paint would just bubble off anything.
Now it hardly scratches the surface even of cellulose.
:mad2:

Maybe tighter (environmental) regulations about what chemicals they can use. Or they're watering it down by using less chemicals in order to bump up their 'margin'?

Have they removed a chemical based on it being dangerous to hoomans?

Re: Why is Nitromors gone so crap

they removed methylene chloride as its harmfull to pretty much anything living, aircraft stripper is what i use these days. to be honest if i spilled new nitromors accidentally on a brand new bike id be in no rush to remove it as it'll do sweet fuck all.

:rolleyes2: Methlyene chloride or dichloromethane is a suspected carcinogen so it was removed from nitromors for good reason

Suspected,unlike known carcinogens like Benzine(added to unleaded petrol)or nitric oxide(by-product of "clean"diesels)
Good to know they're looking out for me :thumbsup2:

Was using it during the week, tis pure shite , after a good few coats doing feck all i painted it onto a section then wrapped with clingfilm straight away then left overnight , it worked on that section doing it like that , hadn't time to do it all like that so used a flapdisc instead

Just wondering.... Would pouring old brake fluid be the same thing as nitromorse to stip the paint off something?
Would it destroy other stuff underneath? Wood or metal

Re: Why is Nitromors gone so crap

I could be wrong, but I doubt it would work vigorously enough (like old Nitromors) to make it worth the bother.

mate of mine tried this himself, general consensus was that if you spill it on something with good paint it wrecked the whole paintjob, if you painted it on it does feck all. sods law.......

All answers as above, far as I know - up to dot4 is hygroscopic. Safe to say then, fresh is best.

More seriously, how would ya neutralize any residues on the now contaminated workpiece. While brake fluid fucks a paint finish, it also doesn't effectively remove it.

Re: Why is Nitromors gone so crap

you need to go to a chemicals supplier and get a few litres of their heavy duty immersion stripper which will be a cocktail of dangerous chemicals, its too thin to use a paint on stripper so mix it 50 50 with an off the shelf paint stripper to thicken it and paint that on...thank me later.
