Co Cork biker with an oil leak, where to go.

Hello
Yesterday on the way to work the bike started smoking from under the engine. Oil was dropping on to the exhaust. I think I traced it back to an o ring where a oil line goes into the engine. Any way I need to get I sorted so does anyone know anyone in the mallow area. I don't think Murphy is open anymore. My preferred shop is Lee but it's a pain to get to.

Murphy is still open, but more chance of napping him later in the evening.

Swantons in Togher is worth a shout failing that :thumbsup2:

What kind of bike is it? The most common cause of oil leaks
on the air/oil cooled bandit is a misplaced spark plug seal/gasket
on the cam cover. Has the cam cover been removed to check
valve clearances recently?

The spark plug tube gasket/seal for the Bandit is commonly
known as a "Mickey Mouse" gasket. If the gasket is damaged
or misplaced, oil gets into the plug holes and leaks out through
the drain holes just below the exhaust ports.

On the K5/K6 Bandit, the oil cooler lines are connected to the
sump using banjo bolts and crush washers. I wouldn't expect a
leak here unless they were hit very hard by something off the road.

The oil filter is directly above the oil lines. Any chance the
leak is from the filter O-ring?

I have heard of a few cases of oil leaks caused by cracks
where the oil lines connect to the oil cooler.

I wouldn't be riding it until you find and fix the leak. A sudden
oil line failure could empty the sump in seconds.

i`ve replaced 3 front oil lines on me b6`s. i noticed the wrap around on the rubber part of the hose gets oily first. Then runs down the rest of the cooler line. As above also. Check your oil filter is not loose. And the oil line bolts are tight.
