Number Plate Size for Test?

So i have my test next week, borrowing a friends bike for it but his plate is very, very small. I can't find any place where it says a legal size for a bike only all 4+ wheelers. Should i just put a normal-ish size one on and work away?

I think with the current sized one they might tell me to jog on and even if they don't, first impressions and all that.

Mine are legal sized plates and, to my eyes, fuckin' tiny!

Got them from the company Gixxer linked to.

If it helps I can get the dimensions of mine for you to compare your mate's plate with.

520mm x 110mm apparently. according to the revenue website. or square ones at 340 x 220mm

that'd be for a cage - measure out 520mm!

nope, any vehicle mechanically powered, square ones meant for bikes, current regs. 340mm x 220mm. what youre quoting does not apply to mechanically propelled vehicles.

by the way , none of mine meet the regs either.

Do please Damien, ill probably try and get the 190*150mm(7.5*6") ones. The cage ones are too big, i reckon wind would take off the oblong or square one and the oblong would nearly be wider than the bike!

Just go to any local bike shop, they’ll normally sell you a legal sized plate and the numbers/letters to put on yourself.
Put it on for the test, then let your mate keep it afterwards.
He might have a use for it down the line.:thumbsup2:

The plate on the SV is 230mm x 75mm (9" x 3"). Letters & digits are 40mm high.

The plate on the ZRX is 178mm x 127mm (7" x 5").

I don't have the bike with me, so I can't tell you what height the letters & digits are on that one. It was the middle size of the three "square" options available. It fitted the dimensions of the shortened mudguard perfectly, which is why I didn't bother going for the smallest.
