Bandit 6 suddenly not starting
I’ve a bandit 6 2002. This morning was working fine. Parked her in the main stand and out on steering lock. I’ve come out and when the key turns, nothing from the electrics at all. Dash is dead. No click from the starter.
I’ve checked kill switch and side stand. Anything else obvious it could be? Thanks! |
Re: Bandit 6 suddenly not staring
Flat battery?
Fucked ignition switch? Blown fuse? |
Re: Bandit 6 suddenly not staring
Looks like flat battery. So now, an appeal for help! I’m in Blackrock. Anybody about? Would be eternally grateful!

fucks sake man , stop will ya, your getting me horney here , wiggling this and that  |
Re: Bandit 6 suddenly not starting
Don't mind all that wiggling and giggling, run alongside it, get a bit of momentum up, jump on, clutch it, put it into 2nd gear on the move and let the clutch out (all with the ignition switch and kill switch on of course). Should bump start....
you might have left the parking light on all day if you turned the key to steering lock with light? |
Re: Bandit 6 suddenly not starting
The kill switch ?
Ask sumbody for a push start if your still stuck Save your insurance co phone # For days like this or ring the lads In Jps and they might be able too Talk you true it. Hope you get sorted |
Re: Bandit 6 suddenly not starting
Are ya still stuck? I could be in blackrock in about an hour for a key wiggling/push start:lbhbh: I have a battery there that might work
overshot the lock position and accidentally turned on the parking lights? If so, the battery is probably too flat to start the bike, even with a push/bump.
I’ve come out and when the key turns, nothing from the electrics at all. Dash is dead. No click from the starter. I’ve checked kill switch and side stand. Anything else obvious it could be?
If everything is completely dead, it won't be any of the usual issues like: stand, clutch or kill switch. Most likely a flat battery. A blown main fuse or faulty ignition switch is less likely. Another possibility is that someone cut the ignition switch wires in a failed effort to steal the bike. |
Re: Bandit 6 suddenly not starting
I have a car/bike starter and tools - can give a dig out in the morning if suits.

Re: Bandit 6 suddenly not starting
So it seems I did indeed overshoot the steering lock. I don’t usually use it at the house or the office, but I was out and about yesterday. Oops. I invested in a battery charger after the big snow so charged it overnight and now on the train back out...
Hopefully she is still there! |
Re: Bandit 6 suddenly not starting
And thanks for the helpful comments.

messing aside any luck did u get her going |
Re: Bandit 6 suddenly not starting
Well I was grateful for the helpful comments. The others ... just add to the character of the place!
Fing forgot to bring a Philips with me. My mate had one when we disconnected her last night I think that is now the problem! The odo etc is coming on just fine but when I press the starter, nada. Doing it over and over again. Thought I got them pretty tight with the key, but not tight enough, methinks. Or it could be something more serious. |
