Brake disc free play

Hey lads, I've noticed this evening that there is rotational free play in both my front discs at the bobbins. As in, if i hold the disc like a steering wheel, I can turn it left and right very slightly. While stationary with the brake applied, if I rock the bike forward and backward the discs are making a clicking noise. I believe a certain amount of free play is expected in the bobbins but how much is too much. And should there be any free play in this direction? Thanks.

Is there free play laterally? Sometimes the rivets lose their plastic washer at one or both sides and the disc can get very loose, your pads could wear uneven.
Be careful anyway.

Hopefully it's normal although I've never noticed it as much before. There is a bit of sideways movement if I push and pull a bit but nothing I'd be concerned about.

Haha! I might consider taking the Daytona as a part ex! :lbhbh:
If you get a chance could you check out your discs and see if they've similar play? Although if I remember correctly the Twin has different discs to the Triple.

The weather is brilliant. Have been going down to the lake with kids for the family wash.

Looking forward to getting into this sport. Had plans from last autumn, but shit happens as they say. If you saw where I live you'd slap me for not having one already.

Re: Brake disc free play

depends if there full floating discs or semi floating, full floating discs normally cast iron rattle like fuck, and thats how there designed, these are more for racing purposes, semi floating will have slight movement, thats to allow for expansion when braking, so its normal to have some movement.
