Painful, came away after 30 minutes depressed and saddened.

Total revamp/modernisation needed (maybe including new bikes to broaden appeal) or scrap it.

Disapointing in fairness, still met a few lads i havent seen for a while and got a couple of small bits so i still enjoyed going, having said that i might not bother next year tbh, ive been going to this since it was in taney and always enjoyed it even when others were knocking it but definitely numbers were way down this year, traders and punters alike, between fuel , feeding , entry etc it probably cost me 60 or 70 yoyos at least, needs to be better tbh

Piss poor Show - No raffle on admission, Didn't see a number of previous/usual traders/displays - VJMC - Emerald Classics - Classic Bikes Dublin - The large Engineering Tools (where today's Show Bikes were displayed)

The Irish Veteran and Vintage Club have members who have plenty of lovely well restored bikes, but they don't bother showing them - WHY?

Think this Club need to seriously sit down and review next years Show - otherwise they have lost the faith of those who've supported this annual show for decades - Don't come back by saying this is only a voluntary club! (check out the Classic Show in Carlow at Easter or the VJMC Show out by the Airport on the May Bank Holiday. Don't even blame the weather. You geezers should be ashamed at this years effort. You've lost the confidence of the paying public.

it was fair bad this year..... i think a lot of stuff the traders were trying to sell they pulled out of a skip.....unless something changes i doubt there ll be many going next year....its a pity ...i kinda feel sorry for the organisers. as their obviously trying to keep it going and it cant be easy... but a lot of disapppointed heads there today.....

You've summed it up well there Nodster - it needed to change 3-4 years ago - I lost faith myself and whereas I tried to defend in the past I can no longer do that.

Your last sentence is spot on and I'm sure you can add lost confidence with traders - weather played no part in the abysmal show - I heard traders saying around midday that it was a disaster and I saw at least one packing up at 12.30 long before weather turned.

Re: Leopardstown car boot sale

hasn't been right since they vacated taney road. that was always worth the trip over and the hall used to be bike related, i dont remember fireplaces, cowboy hats, brass ornaments etc over there, but i have picked up manuals, fairings helmets and all sorts of tools there over the years, only thing i ever bought in leopardstown was the ticket in yet Usualy when im there im looking to buy...weird..
I didn't get to carlow this year was it decent? its important to keep some form of jumble circuit going especially since they're gonna tax the UK stuff now soon. . heres a thought...maybe we could use the mens sheds network?, that could cater for average lads just clearing out the shed / garage as opposed to mickaa paying an " organiser" so he can be selling horse tack , toys antiques and used washing machine belts.. there could be a smaĺl regular jumble in different mens sheds locations, theyd get the publicity might even attract new lads in? or even get a haul of tools out of it? anyone involved with them at all?

Re: Leopardstown car boot sale

I remember a few years back ,there was also a display of bikes outside under the stairwell, at least 2 guys selling tools, machinery, and the main hall was packed with bikes and less crap...what went wrong..cant blame brexit yet....:wassat:

It has been going down for the last few years, but this year was off the cliff.

Think 'dead parrot sketch' and flogging a dead horse.

The show in Swords is far better imo and building each year.

The Leopardstown event needs to re-invent and modernise.

Saturday was dark, dingy and downbeat.

I do feel sorry for the organisers but they now need to get real or forget about it.
