Bike rain cover

Anyone got any recommendations? Looking for a sturdy heavy duty all-weather type cover. Sick of replacing the cheap LIDL/ALDI covers after they leak, tear, or blow away. Must be durable and proven to work in our kind of weather.

Looking for opinions from owners - what do ye use and why?

Can't tell the difference between Oxford Protex vs Stormex for example - and both are pricey!

I bought a Hein Gericke one about 20 years ago, and it's still going strong.

Unfortunately, Hein Gericke went bump a while back, so this reply is about as much use as tits on a bull :D

I've been using an Oxford stormex for the last three or four years, it's still in good nick. It doesn't fit the new bike well so I might get a bigger one.

Oxford stormex for sure. Some Bungee cords to keep it tight. Iíve had one about 15 years and another about 10. Both retired to garden furniture/bbq duty currently 🙈

Have been using an Oxford Stormex too for about the last 3 years. Decent quality, although it's about end of life now.

Seam tape has all ripped off. The front and back windows are definitely a weak spot; both have broken plastic and the back side is just velcroed shut. The white fluff on the inside likes to snag on any sharp edge and stay stuck on your bike.

Might sound a bit negative, but I think it's a really good cover. I still use it every day and it keeps the bike dry and protected from the sun. I would definitely buy another one.

I bought mine from sportbikeshop.co.uk, which seems to have decent price for them: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/275658

Medium fits my sportbike well.

I've a Stormex 14 years now and its still going. Much heavier than any of the others and keeps the heavy rain off your bike. Well worth the 70 quid ish.

Been using the Stormex for years and never a hassle, it even survived the recent strong storms that we had lately.

I bought a Stormtex in October of last year.

Seem tape starting to peel a little in places now but overall it's a solid cover and well made.

I'd been using the bikeit heavy duty covers up until now (which were pretty good and last about 5-ish years)

The Stormtex is better though and I'd buy another when my other bikeit one wears out.

I find the Medium is slightly too small for my XSR (higher handlebars) but fits the R1 well.

Also bought at sportbikeshop

I'm happy with GTmoto Premium cover. Cloth inner and rubber outer. It's heavy but stays on in winds, keeps the bike very dry.

I think it's the same as the Halford's premium cover at €60

Same.

Stomex is a good bit of kit, but the cheaper one Oxford do is about as good as as toilet roll and is to be avoided.

My dads one is the same cover, he returned his first one within a year as the seams all fell off and it was replaced. New one is starting to peel off now, seems sturdy enough but as a long-term cover its not great due to seems falling off (UV weakened maybe) and condensation imo.

Think I'm lucky in that both of the Stormex's that I have are the old ones with no windows so no seams. Seems to be a weak point
