» Paddock Stands - the good, the bad, the ugly ?
Nov 20, 2018 - 11:48 PM - by -alan-
Never had need for one before.

Reading loads of mixed opinions on them - is it worth spending the extra on the likes of Harris and the like, or does it make b*gger all difference for a road bike sitting in a garage most days ?

If it does make a difference, is there a sweet spot somewhere where you get a good quality one without having to ay through the nose ?

» Electrical issues and the aul' sv650
Nov 19, 2018 - 3:16 PM - by Phatty McFatt
Right lads, i know that problems in the electrics are unheard of in matters of sv650's but here's mine right now: finished work, started the engine with a bit of choke for good measure and allowed her to warm up for about 2 mins. Put my sexy leg over, sat my arse comfortably and got ready to go. As I switched on the lights i noticed the revv counter dancing a bit. Previous experience told me there's an issue with the supply of electricity but i figured it'll be grand since the engine was already running. Gave her a rev or two and as i was getting ready to shift into 1st and go she went dark.

» KE 100 electrics
Nov 19, 2018 - 10:33 AM - by shauncreed
Hi,
Putting the electrics back on my ke 100. My question might be a bit pointless as I know it needs a new battery but anyway.
I hooked up everything and took a few readings.
Bike Off and external charger off. 5v
Bike Off and external charger on. 6v
Bike On and external charger off. 4v
Bike On and external charger on. 5v

To be clear, bike on has the battery connected to the magneto. I'm getting a new battery this week but the 4v reading concerned me a little. I did fuck up as I forgot to rev the bike while reading to see a spike of voltage so maybe that accounts for the low voltage? Could this indicate magneto problems or am I jumping to conclusions? With the bike on and external charger off, she seemed to be able to drive the... [Read More]

Hello lads,

I had my chain and sprocket's changed in July by a mechanic close to where I live. While I was driving home from the shops the nut that holds the front sprocket came off.

I have been told that this should not have happened. I have no receipt from when it was done is there any action I can take to have my bike fixed or because I don't have the reciipt will I be told I'll have to pay?

Heading over to the NEC next Friday for the show. Since it's Black Friday I'm hoping there might be a few deals floating around. It then occurred to me that maybe those of you that are going over before that might come across some bargains worth posting up here for those of us following along later?

» 2000 Varadero xl1000 brake light problem
Nov 14, 2018 - 7:31 PM - by N1ghtr08d
Alright lads, so I have a Honda Varadero XL1000 and it recently developed a weird problem. The taillight works fine when the lights are on but the brake light doesn't work whether the lights are on or off.
I've replaced the bulbs with brand new ones and I've checked the fusebox under the seat and the fuses are all good. I recently replaced the rear turn signals with new LED ones and I soldered in proper resistors to balance the load and they all work fine and there is no loose wiring around/behind the brake light assembly.
I have no idea what may be going wrong, can anyone please help?

Nov 14, 2018 - 2:49 PM - by Caffeine
The rubber seal trim thing running on top of my schuberth c3 helmet's visor, to stop water from going in, has developed a hole in the middle.

I've tried a number of things, including superglue (baaad idea...) but none last or seal. What the hell can I put there that will work (I can ride in the rain for hours)

» pinlock fogging
Nov 14, 2018 - 2:01 AM - by efanton
Getting home tonight was a bugger. Water got into the helmet and the pinsert fogged up. Only about an inch across the top of the pinsert was clear, just enough to get me home at a very sedate pace.

Took a good look at the helmet once I got home and the pinsert is not fitting flush with the visor the whole way round. for about 2 inches there's a very slight gap will will allow either water to get in or your breath to fog it up.

Is there any trick that I can use to fix this, or prevent fogging in the future.

putting a seam of vaseline around the edge came to mind, or applying bit of heat to warp the pinsert slightly so that its pushing against the visor.

The helmet is about a year old, Schuberth C4, and I would have thought that a... [Read More]

Nov 12, 2018 - 6:33 PM - by motojojo
Well lads,
Finally bought myself a bike, only problem I'm facing now is the cheapest insurance is liberty and they need proof of restriction of the bike before they'll insure me, A2 licence, the joy of being 22...

Anybody gotten a bike restricted? Recommend any garages? I've seen a serious amount of people saying get a certificate off Ebay and shite like that but I've the test in about 3 months so it wouldn't break my heart having it restricted for the winter sure.

Cheers for any replies.

Anyone know if after having importing and re-registering a bike, can you change the reg from say 73 LK xxx to ZV xxx or vice versa?
Is it a case that once the reg has been applied then it cannot be changed?
Wondering if anyone ever tried this?
