» Where Do Ye Get Tyres Fitted If You Buy Them Online?
Aug 22, 2017 - 11:06 PM - by Phaedrus
How does it work when you buy tyres from one of these online shops (Oponeo, etc.)? Just rock up to a local bike shop and pay them to fit them for you? How do shops take to this? "Fuck off - if you didn't buy them from me then fuck off"? Or do they just charge a fortune to fit them, negating any supposed saving by paying low online prices on the tyres?

Who in/around Dublin stocks and fits Michelin Anakee Wild? Metzeler Karoo 3? Heidenau Scout K60?

» Recommend a dash cam
Aug 22, 2017 - 10:42 PM - by corrcullen
Would like to invest in a good motorcycle dash cam for my 2007 RT.
I want it just for safety, in the event of being involved in an incident, so it would be turned on all the time, so a looping feature would be important.
I already have a Migsel mount fitted for my Gar-min sat-nav, so I would mount the dash cam beside it.
Ideally I would have it hard wired or I could power it off the charging accessory socket on the RT.
Any recommendations please?

Aug 22, 2017 - 5:05 PM - by -alan-
Just curious. Was thinking about this earlier. Can remember at least 5 (or 6) depending on how you count them:

1) Air-cooled Yammy 250, baldy-back tyre, pulled out of a junction onto the main road and wound it open trying to impress some kids at a bus-stop, lost the rear and ended up on my hoop in the middle of the road.

2) Same bike - ran out of [email protected] going a wee bit too hard on a roundabout and ran wide into the Armco. Forks destroyed

3) Same bike (rebuilt) - found some diesel on yet another roundabout, and went for another slide

4) 2 up with the brother on a KE100, fell off turning off a main road into a housing estate (going too hard and pulled on the front anchor) - right in front of an RUC car, but they never stopped for a... [Read More]

Aug 22, 2017 - 4:29 PM - by torquey
Hello guys!

K7 600 gsxr will start fine when cold but wont start when hot. I need to wait 15 mins to attempt to start it again. It is turning no problem and fuel pump is working but it will not fire. Put a new starter in still no good. Also to note when I do start the bike from cold it does not seem to engage the choke at all it just sits at approx 800rpm. My thinking is temp sensors but rang a few dealers and they don't know what sensors I am talking about (And I dont have too much of a clue either'to be honest). Battery is good too. Any recommendations? Really annoying pulling in for fuel and what not not to mention if I some day stall on a busy junction

Well lads,

Anyone recommend a domestic courier to transport two bikes from galway to gorey over the coming week? Overlanders not able to collect them and with work etc there's no hope of me being able to do it between now and when they need to be there 02/09 latest.

Not sure who's doing it these days, would prefer to use someone who comes recommended on the forum.

Cheers lads

Phoned around belfast but noone seems to have it in stock (I'm based in Newry).

Do you know anyone using a motorbike this weekend.?

Saturday and Sunday afternoons are peak times for motorcycle collisions.

Since 7th July, there has been 9 motorcycle fatalities, now totalling 14 riders and 1 pillion passenger for the year to date. Motorcycles make up only about 1.5% of the national fleet, but 12-14% of fatalities

The RSA analysis of 2008-2012 motorcycle fatalities confirms that speed was not a factor in half of all collisions.

Saturday and Sunday afternoons are peak times for motorcycle collisions.

Advice for motorcyclists
Ride with you dipped headlight on and wear additional hi viz material...remember a typical motorcycle is only one third the width of a car. Be safe/ Be seen.

So I have a 2pc RST Blade suit. If I ride in the rain am I going to wreck it. Or, should I get some rain specific gear. The leather suit is my only suit gear at the moment too. Should I have an extra set in general so as to get longevity from them?

Newbie alert lol.

Aug 21, 2017 - 7:08 PM - by DUBLINCHRIS
this Fazer reg no. 01D70100 was "abandoned" at the pedestrian crossing opposite Wesley College from some time early Sunday until Monday afternoon. It seems to have some light damage to fairing. I reported it to Dundrum Garda and they arranged for Kelly's to recover it. If anyone is missing this bike or knows anything about it contact Dundrum Garda - they could not tell me this evening if they traced owner or if it was reported stolen.

Aug 21, 2017 - 5:19 PM - by IrishTrepper
Well, I've heard of idiots on the road seen a few myself, on the phone, rolling through stoplines even red lights this lad takes the cake.

Was leaving my fathers house in Killorglin and came to the junction by the (langford street going to Caragh lake, was at the stop line by Ardmoniel if anyone knows the area) got into a head on vs a Transit Van, all 4 wheels on my side of the road.

I don't remember the accident itself but after going back to the scene I pieced together (my version) of what probably happened, it's pretty obvious that he was going to apex the corner I wouldn't have moved off the stop line unless I knew I had more than enough space to pass without him decking me so he wasnt paying attention, didn't see me coming and went to cut the corner (no... This started out as a cop bike in California.
1st year EVO motor.
The bike has been built as a hotrod and all the cop stuff stripped off it
Bored and Stroked out to 106 cubic inches
The FXR frame is reckoned to be the best handling frame harley ever built.
A young engineer named Erik Buell helped design it and he went on to build his own racebikes
They have cult status over here and fetch decent prices.
It's a fun bike and goes really well and gets a lot of looks wherever I go on it.
last pic is 3 FXR's

» Wet track on road tyres
Aug 21, 2017 - 10:28 AM - by Jimmy16v
Was out for the day in Mondello in the Novice group yesterday. Really enjoyed the morning sessions but struggled once it started to properly rain.

When we came back in from the wet session after lunch the tyres were still pretty much stone cold. Is this just the case for riding on road tyres in the wet or is there something that can be done to get a bit more heat/grip? Maybe I just need to man up in the wet but kept getting small slides on turn 2 so had no confidence after that.

I was using Metzler M7RR's with 30psi in the front and 28psi in the rear cold.

» Starter Relay (solenoid) blowing fuses
Aug 20, 2017 - 9:22 PM - by efanton
A couple of months ago I had to replace the starter relay in my GSX 600F.
The original starter relay came with a 25 amp or 40 amp fuse, but the new one came with a 15 amp fuse. Twice now the starter relay fuse has blown when starting the bike. As per murphy's law not at home but miles from home. I carry spare fuses but its a pain in the butt removing fairings to change a fuse in the pissing rain.

So the question is can I just put a 25 amp fuse in this new relay being that was what was in the original one , or do I risk doing damage by putting in a stronger fuse in this newer relay?

Took a ride on 2 of the beasts today, one to give nelly a run out with the new reg rec as far as Donegal town and after that, gambling on the weather, took the Yam to Slieve League. You wouldn't want to be shy on the chop, people just gravitate to it. She's running well, I just need to secure a dust cover on the rear hub and replace the stuck brake pressure switch to give the brake light a second chance.

Looking at 2 rainsuits, an oxford and a Richa suit

Im tempted by the oxford because being fully fluorescent would have better visibility but all the user reviews are for the Richa not many for the oxford, does anyone have either of them and what are your opinions?

Im 5'8 stocky build, going to go for the XL so can be easily pulled over textile jacket and trousers, is that too small a size?

Actually looks pretty straightforward.

Ive put them below in order.

The only question I would have from anyone in here who knows is in video number 3 when he torques the bolts, loosenes them, torques again, angle torques, loosenes and then angle torques again. is this really necessary? seems crazy
