» Rough after parking for a while
May 25, 2018 - 11:11 PM - by Caffeine
My (injected) FZ6 runs smooth when started from cold for hours.
But if I park it for like 20 minutes and then take it out then it runs rather rough for a good 10 minutes, including in neutral.

But only sometimes. I think it has something to do with heat. In the undeground parking there's not that much air flowing, so something is heating up from the residual heat from the bike. The other day I was stuck for 3 traffic light changes in this lovely weather and I could feel it rouging a slight bit.

i checked the tps sensor with the diagnostics and is more or less fine (17 closed, 103 fully open). Engine temp is fine, and, again, works great from cold. Any ideas?

» V-Strom tank lock
May 25, 2018 - 6:05 PM - by DAK
Lads this is now starting to p1ss me off. 2012 DL650 I bought end of last year in great nick from the UK. Running great but me and the tank lock are having issues.

Maybe Iím retarded but maybe someone has an idea. Iím not on drugs by the way - the lock on the tank will not open randomly. I havenít done massive mileage since I got her but itís happened a few times and once I had to nurse it home as I couldnít open it at a garage.

Iíve gotten into the habit of testing it now before I go out. Was out this afternoon. Tried before I headed off. 2/3 miles to the station and the fucking thing wouldnít open. Had it on the centre stand, I can press it down to take the pressure off the catch - no joy. Key wonít turn. Put it on the side stand and it opened as it that... [Read More]

» Donington WSB '18 : Rea fastest as Davies crashes
May 25, 2018 - 5:10 PM - by Admin
Kawasaki’s Jonathan Rea put in a late fast lap to claim top spot on the first day of WorldSBK free practice just after he ran into the gravel at Redgate, a corner which claimed more than one victim in the final session.

Rea battled team-mate Tom Sykes for most of the final session as the Kawasaki looks again best suited to the Leicestershire track which has dried out enough for slicks following the morning deluge.

Rea ended with a 1’28.003 just one lap after he outbraked himself into Redgate. Sykes, who had been top on a 1’28.207 did look like he might better the Isle of Man resident but lost time in the final sector and had to settle for second.

It was bad news for championship hopeful Davies when he went down after hitting a damp... [Read More]

May 24, 2018 - 8:16 PM - by Puff, the Magic Dragon
Wondering if anyone around Cork with a van be able to collect a bike over the next day or two (evening)

Left my bike at the entrance of the train station today only to get off the train this evening to find it throwing on the floor.

Can someone recommend a decent mechanic on the northside (Dublin)?

I thought there were a few threads already on this, but I can't find them.

I use a Sena 10C. A friend wants to get a useable helmet camera but doesn't have the budget for something like the 10C.

What's out there?

» Triumphs. What are they like for everyday use?
May 23, 2018 - 11:47 AM - by Ianasauras
Hi guys,

May be time for something new. I've always had sports bikes but I'm a huge fan of the Bonneville and Thruxton. But I don't know anyone who actually owns one. What are they like to live with in regards to commuting, servicing and reliability?
Easy enough to do a service at home? I'd be looking at something around a 2008 of either model.

If all else fails I'll be looking for a VFR but enough has been said about them I think!

Thanks for any input lads!

» Are front mudguard type number plates legal?
May 23, 2018 - 12:45 AM - by fzr.rider
hey everyone,
ive ended up getting a very tidy 2007 royal enfield and ive been playing around with the idea of getting a front mudguard number plate that says "royal enfield" on it instead of my reg. (like the one pictured)

the question is are these illegal? my Dad was telling me how they became illegal because of how it would cut through a pedestrian in a crash, some places online have been saying that they became non mandatory and died out.

anyone know what the story with them is?

May 22, 2018 - 7:47 PM - by Paravians
I am about to purchase a Triumph Bonneville, I've got my eyes on two models, both from the North (different dealers). Either way it's got to be delivered via van (long story but I cannot go up there, so I am buying unseen).

This one is a 2010 Bonneville with 4,990 miles
Link to Photo (803 kB)
price is £4299 + £150 van.
It's got appealing extras (crash bars, screen, carrier rack), _but_ THREE previous owners. Also two sets of keys, Haynes manual & handbook.

The other is a 2012 Bonneville "SE" with 3287 miles

» MCE Insurance still available
May 22, 2018 - 2:29 PM - by oroura25
Hi folks,

I, like many others got an email from MCE stating that they were moving away from the Irish market due to Brexit uncertainties. I set about renewing my policy, on the day that it was due to expire - clever me!

I rang around and I was quoted Ä900 for third party only from one company and they wouldn't offer any other option because they felt a KTM to a thief in Dublin would be like a pearl to a pirate :)

Anyways, after a couple more similar quotes, I said I'd ring MCE just in case. I should have done it earlier obviously but I'm usually on hold for a decade and couldn't bear it. They told me that the goalposts have moved and they ARE offering cover to the Irish market for the foreseeable future! Quote was over half the price of all... [Read More]
