» Anywhere to do engine painting?
Mar 01, 2017 - 1:29 PM - by hyperhyper
Paint on the engine isn't great and I wouldn't mind getting it redone if it's affordable. Was going to do it myself in the frame but might as well look at other options first.
Can anyone recommend a place that does it? Can it be done in the frame, or does it need to be taken out? Obviously easier once it's taken out and it can be prepared properly you'll get a far better finish. But anything would be an improvement on what it's like at the moment so I'd settle for a half decent job leaving the engine in the frame if the other option is too expensive.
Bike is a 2008 hypermotard, and the paint they use in the factory is absolute shite

» Did DCC have a brainfart with this??
Feb 28, 2017 - 7:04 PM - by Japcati
A dedicated motorbike parking area,in an area with junkies and drunks hanging around, and they dont even bother to put in any ground anchors. No sign of any CCTV either. So Johnnie scumbag can roll up with his transit van or his mate and drive off or walk off with any motorbike or moped he likes.

Well done DCC,you should be very proud for really thinking of us bikers and putting real thought into this motorbike parking area..

But I love the attention to detail that you put in to the "cyclists" parking area.

» Got flashed on the Busa by Mototuning !
Feb 28, 2017 - 5:21 PM - by Rh4000
Done the last dyno run on the Busa today, full custom ECU reflash from Gary at Mototuning....Its like a new bike, unreal the difference, biggest most noticeable difference is the torque especially low down, just pulls like an absolutely train all through the revs. Some job done on the bike... I'm like a pig in shit

I was skeptical at first but after chatting to a few people I went for it and I Wlwould highly recommend Gary... [Read More]

» MZ TS 250/1 front brake modification (maybe)
Feb 28, 2017 - 1:20 PM - by My First Suzuki
Front brake on the above is renowned for being utter shite & that's on a good day I've been reading up on various modifications that people have carried out because I need to do something to improve stopping power. Mods include grafting in a disc brake front end from another MZ model but that entails severe butchery & it isn't worth the hassle IMO. There's also another mod that entails fitting oversize linings to the brake shoes & then machining them to get the minimum clearance between the lining & the brake drum. Sounds feasible but I decided to start at the beginning with a new set of brake shoes from ost2rad.com The lining on the new shoes is slightly longer than the lining on... [Read More]

Feb 28, 2017 - 11:30 AM - by The Road Runner
Just got my renewal documents i the door from RSA (Adelaide) and i was not happy, having heard good comments on the forum for PRINCIPAL Insurance i said i would give them a try,

The whole experience from initial contact was so positive , and the policy has all the bells and whistles ,fully comp, 100,000 legal cover , breakdown recovery etc....at a considerable saving.....honestly

So if or when your renewal is due, even if its not due, give them a call for a quote ,oh and you are automatically entered into a DRAW for a new helmet..... [Read More]

» BMW S1000 R or Street Triple RS or anything else??
Feb 27, 2017 - 10:02 PM - by Kregiel
Hey Guys,

Just looking for a bit of advice. I commute daily on my fazer 1000 and also use it as a touring bike with a pillion and this bike I will keep. Thinking of something more modern with latest tech, lighter, stiffer frame and better handling- kind of hooligan bike with character for summer for both commuting and weekend blast with friends. Fazer I plan to keep for winter commute and touring with missus as pillion.

I am considering one of the above yokes. Had street triple R before and it was a mind blowing bike- handling, brakes, character.

S1000r defo quicker than street triple but also heavier and probably will not handle as well etc. Also loads of technology in BMW with electronic suspension might affect reliability. Also kind of... [Read More]

The Irwin brothers, Caolan and Rhys from Donegal will race in Thundersport this season with their own family team. They will also contest selected Masters races.

Caolan and Rhys are two of Ireland's bext Motorcycle Racing prospects and deserving of the help of all of Irish Motorcycle Racing. If you would like to support them you can donate to their 2017 budget at https://www.pledgesports.org/project...others-racing/ and in return get some great rewards including free Masters tickets and season passes. My dilemma is if I buy anymore projects then I will be shot at home..!! I currently have 3.
But I thoroughly enjoy working on bikes as a hobby.

So what I am doing is offering my services. I am a qualified mechanic and mechanical engineer by trade. I do have a full time job, so do all my work at night times.

» Which one f800gsa or tiger 800xcx
Feb 26, 2017 - 11:09 AM - by Anthony Byrne
Trading from a cruiser to an adventure bike.

I'm really enjoying long distance travelling with Europe this year and the plan is to do Mongolia and back in the next two years.

The bikes aren't a million miles apart with performance. The triumph has more with regards to electrics which is a little worry, too many electrics can bring their problems also looks a little more of a road bike with regards to the weight distribution over the front wheel but reads well on dirt.

The gsa I think is far more popular but maybe that's because of the marketing from BMW.

On a side note tge tiger has free panniers!

Anyone have an opinion

» Where are the next generation bikers going to come from ?
Feb 25, 2017 - 8:38 PM - by Paranoid android
Was often thinking where are the next generation of bikers going to come from, as I have now nephews nieces age 17 plus ,and of them who would like to get into motorcycling are quoted insurance premiums of euro 2,300 plus on basic 100 cc or less . My question is , will the insurance companies decide the future of the next biker girls boys ? The bike manufacturers are doing their bit in deciding to build very appealing new learner bikes etc , sad but are they doomed already by red tape ? Ps not been paranoid...

Its a 2002 Drz 400e with black excel supermoto wheels.
Its yellow on the front half and black on the back only one that colour in the city.

Im thinking of buying a professional kit for wet blast cleaning complete engines, that way an engine can be blast cleaned without any dismantling, but a lot of people would be worried about abrasive getting in.
Ive done a couple of my own and Ive mastered how to blank everything off and the engines run fine, but would you pay good money for the service ?

Feb 24, 2017 - 1:26 PM - by User-Name
Hey fellas,

I need advice guys...

Currently I am driving a '06 Yamaha Fazer naked with ~200kg and ~100hp. Now I think about getting a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6r +-2011 (~180kg and ~120hp). From the specs both cycles seems not too far away, but I think there is a big difference in power.

Is that true? If yes why is it like that? What is the main deference then?

Thanks guys!

» Laverty improves in Phillip Island but misses out on SuperPole 2
Feb 24, 2017 - 9:15 AM - by Big Man Andy
Seems to have fixed the front end at least.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eugene Laverty (Milwaukee Aprilia) narrowly missed out on securing a spot in Tissot Superpole 2 at the Yamaha Finance Australian Round, as he makes his return to the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship paddock.

The Irishman, who has celebrated successful results aboard the Aprilia in the series in the past, has endured a tough start to his weekend, but was able to secure the 11th fastest time overall on Friday. A time of 1’31.287 put him just over a second behind the fastest man of Friday, Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing –Ducati).

Progress has been made for Laverty, who explained: “I only missed out... [Read More]

Feb 23, 2017 - 5:01 PM - by Wodny
So ... I'm in a tight spot here lads. I'll begin by introducing myself a little. I'm 18 still in secondary school and live in North Dublin.

I got a GS500 a few weeks back and just got my IBT completed at the beginning of this month. Now I'm looking for insurance and in all honesty it's not looking good...

I called up Carole Nash and first they quoted me 3000 euro... I negotiated a bit etc and then they called me back with a 1200 for Third party , fire and theft. I was expecting a bit less but whatever I thought , I'll call around and see what's up.

I call up Liberty and got straight up denied because the bike is too big for someone my age .. I hold a A2 licence which allows me to ride anything in the 35kw range and my GS is actually... [Read More]

Would welcome any and all suggestions or comments on the 2 mentioned above.
