It's lighter, more powerful and packed with technology but is the new Blade back in the fight for litre-bike supremacy ? Alan Dowds from visordown reports ;
THE LAST TIME I was heading out on a new Fireblade launch, America was about to vote for a very new, very different president. Back in 2008, Barack Obama was heading to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue as the first black POTUS and I was heading to Losail circuit in Qatar to have a spin on the heavily-updated CBR1000RR.
Twelve year old Dungannon schoolboy Cameron Dawson, already with Four Irish Mini moto and Pit Bike championships to his credit, look set to move up the ranks to short circuit racing this year, and will receive guidance and advice from Multi Irish road race winner, Ryan Farquhar.
The Drumglass High Scholar began racing in 2012, as a raw 7 year old, never having ridden a moto cycle before, Cameron competed his first season of championship racing to take an amazing 4th place in the Irish Minimoto 4,2 championship!.
Two years later, armed with new machinery, Dawson went on to take second in both Minimoto and Pit Bike championships, The potential to succeed was now being realised. Highlight of that season, was a trip to Spain,... [Read More]
Lads just a quick question to all those who are familiar with the Le Mans circuit. Im heading over in May so Im buying two tickets for the general admission area. However Ive two lads at Uni in Rennes who dont know whether they can go or not. My question is can I buy general admission tickets on the day and if so are they priced excessively ? Im getting my two at the moment for 65 each. Thanks in advance
I'm thinking of buying an enduro bike and doing some events this year.Complete beginner.
Looking at bikes for sale,there's not many enduro bikes on donedeal so is there any motocross bikes that could be used or are easily converted, like a 250sxf or crf250?
I'd rather not have to go that route,just seeing what the options are but to be able to go on the odd motocross day could be good too.
Also does the bike need to be road registered or taxed?
Live a couple miles away from Mullingar on the N4. Roads are usually gritted before 11pm. No issues commuting to Dublin to work thank god. Thinking of going into Mullingar tonight and leave maybe sometime after midnight. The roads should be gritted before i leave. Would it be safe? I don't know really, it seems colder that time of the night than say before 0800. Would the grit have taken affect at the stage been on the road for only an hour or so?
I'm toying with idea of buying a motocross bike to play around with. Another biking box to tick.
How easy is it to get out and practice in the Cork area?
I don't have a field to tear up and I dont know anyone who does it that I could talk to.
I have seen the track near kartword and it doesn't look too scary but im wondering how often I could get out not just there but anywhere and is it relatively easy for a newbie to join in
I don't want to race and I'm not keen on joining a club unless its more of a low key social aspect
Has anyone here taken it up recenlty and or care to give some advice? Cheers 🍻
I have an NX650 from 1993, its high enough milage at 50K miles. There is a rattle from the top end, sounds like a cam chain and not tappets. Seems that these chains don't have adjustment, unless that i'm mistaken. Anyone know if its a big job, like engine out to check?
Bit of help needed folks. I've set up a face.book page on behalf of the Fingal Motor Club, can we all give it a like to get it going? I plan on putting up unofficial points tables for the different classes and championships as the season goes on, also rider profiles/interviews, entry forms for the fingal round at mondello, helping out newcomers aswell as trying to promote the sport/motorbikes in general. Just search for fingal motor club in the search banner of face.book thanks
