Got one about a year back 19 it was .never tested it for accuracy just assumed it was calibrated to the +-0.5psi .decided to get another one for the wife for her cage cos it has a monitoring system that lights up when your outside the required psi.

First time using it showed 40+psi to my other one
.brought it back to get a replacement and tested it outside the shop on my cage against my other one. This time 12psi more .

Went back in and asked for another replacement to which I was told we cant open and test them all . I wasnt sure was it my old one that was off... [Read More]

Oct 21, 2017 - 12:45 AM - by acdc
finally got the bitches done last Sunday , and was very gratefull to my buddy Sean , he is on here too who helped me and as It was the first time I done the bearings myself it was mighty to have a mate with plenty of experience.
I was shocked at the qoutes I got from bike shops but to be fair 90% of it is all labour and that is where the big bills come in, I was qouted in the 400-550 range.

The bearings cost me around 50 and say a good 3.5 - 4 hours work between the 2 of us but well delighted with myself now are otherwise there was no way I could affoard to get them done in a bike shop.

They were so bad that the bike was like on autopilot and wanted to go back up to Cork on the drive down.
The bearing literally fell outta them.

» Is there a better alternative?
Oct 20, 2017 - 6:31 PM - by dvgenius
Rectifier failed, replaced it and burnt-out again only to realise that it was the connectors were fucked though they look OK on the outside (hence why I didn't cop it with the first replacement) the dividers on the inside were actually mangled anyway long story short.

Snipped it off and wired in the new rectifier today with these blocks (seems quite secure). Working grand not a bother charging away at very stable 14.5v. I've taped over it like a murdafucker but just wondering should I consider something else for joining the wires to prevent failing long term?

» Trackday or Off Road training Europe?
Oct 20, 2017 - 9:32 AM - by BigDiggity
How's it going lads?

I've a week off in November and thank god the missus doesn't... so looking at sneaking off and doing a bit of trackday or off road training incl bike rental.

I've no experience on track, a little adv off road experience.

Redtread in Spain seem to be the best or most popular for off road training/tours? Anyone been out here??

Couldn't really find anywhere that does trackday training tho?

Any suggestions?

HONDA has revealed a redesigned Super Cub 110 and Super Cub 50 and simultaneously announced that production passed the 100 million mark this month.

Click the image to open in full size.

That figure is simply astounding, and confirms the Super Cub as by far the most popular bike ever to be built. What’s more, its popularity seems to be increasing. Introduced in 1958 as the SC100, it took until 2005 for Honda to build 50 million of them. Now it’s doubled that number in... [Read More]

Right new 12 by 8 foot workshop on the way to completion next week, so need a good full table lift. The 1000lbs ones that jebtools.ie do https://jebbtools.ie/products/1000lb...otorcycle-lift are slightly too long cos the entrance door goes into the 8 foot side. The 1000lbs one is 7.2 foot long and would have have some throw to it when liftin the bike up aswell.
Theres 800lbs one on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FoxHunter-...53.m1438.l2649 for cheaper and is about the right... [Read More]

Oct 19, 2017 - 8:21 AM - by marcusmatthewd
Hi all,

Long time lurker but first time posting - sorry it's a question!

A car drove into my path the other day, I had a green light, going straight on at a junction, she was coming in the opposite direction and turning right.

She drove right into out in front of me and I went into the side of her. She's at fault as I had the right of way.

However, I was driving in the bus lane - does this change the liability of the accident?

Was looking online for some answers but found nothing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Im not having much luck in the garage with fixing shit latley!

Between the Cbr250 clutch acting the bollix and the Drz not starting Im nearly thinking of becoming an alchoholic coz it may be cheaper and easier...

The Drz started acting up at the paddy dakar.
It started fine until half way through the day then it would just click when hitting the starter. Electric start only.

So I push started it most of the day.
It would also start if put it in gear, pushed it forward then hit the starter like it was unsticking the starter.

Got it home, the starter bushes were fairly worn so replaced them.

Now here is... [Read More]

» Injected sv dying at 49 / 50 degrees C
Oct 18, 2017 - 2:30 PM - by frozen
2003 fuel injected sv650s with around 25k miles
like clockwork 3 times in a row, it runs fine and then when it reaches 49 going on 50 degrees it'll just die from idling. Revving when its this hot feels vibey and power is way down and if you open the throttle fully on the road you feel pulsing power like traction control and no real acceleration at all. You can keep it from dying at 49 degrees by giving revs but sometimes they just drop anyway and you have to give it loads more throttle to keep going

rolling off throttle while it's hot the engine just dies while riding, caught me out a couple of times yesterday on the road and it was dangerous

when it's cold it fires up on the first turn over of the engine and sounds and runs perfectly till it gets... [Read More]

» Pipeworx Slash Cut end 'can' on the R6
Oct 17, 2017 - 12:35 PM - by Motomong
Searched for Pipeworx on here and only came up with one mention, so thought I'd share the latest thing I changed on the R6. I commute on this in Dublin every day and wanted a bit of noise, to try reduce the amount of gobshites that pull out in front of me. Came across these simple bits of pipe and said fuck it, we'll give that a go. They're about 110 after postage etc. Yeah you could DIY it but I don't have the tools for that, and it's nice and clean.

Noise-wise the bike still has the cat for now, and I'm only on it a month or two so I don't need a full exhaust yet. It's marginally louder and bassier than the stock can, but not so much that it'll have the guards tailing you, and it's very satisfying at full chat.

The dent in the swingarm was well hidden by... [Read More]

Hi there, I'm new to the forum but I thought there would be peeps out there who might be interested in the Classic Superbike Racing at Mondello (and thanks Chopper for giving this shoutout an OK)
If your currently racing or thinking of starting racing you might want to consider joining this class for next year. It has been running for the past few years and has become a feature at the Masters and the Irish championship at Mondello.
Anyone is eligible , theres no age limit. The bikes are up to 1993 or equivalent model if they remained unchanged after that year. four strokes and 2 strokes up to 1010cc ( max allowed on track in Ireland, but not sure anyone is checking too hard) That means zxr750's, fzr/yzf750-1000, gsxr's, Fj1100, ducati 851/888, honda rs250's, honda... I recently bought a bike and have been let down on the logbook as it's now been a number of weeks and the previous owner is dodging calls. I was just wondering if it's possible to do anything about getting a new one. Just a heads up, bikes outdoors with a bike cover are at a high risk of being blown over today or tonight, happens every year someone comes on saying that their bike was damaged in the fall, and it can be expensive, a bike on its side stand has a better chance than a main stand, I have just lashed my yoke to a (railing or anything secure) on the sidestand side in gear, I have done this for years now without ever having an issue. good luck....
