» Me New Royde....!
Apr 29, 2017 - 11:26 PM - by Jofass
After lusting for one of these since their introduction in 2009, and my continued obsession with the rvf400 and all things v4. I finally got the balls to do it. Sure there's no official support dealer in the country, and any major servicing will involve (happily) a trip to wales, but fuck it I am so proud of this. As far as I'm aware it is the only RSV4 RF in Ireland. My last aprilia was an rs50 about 16 years ago, so hopefully this will be as reliable! Cant wait to get out on a blast!

A MASSIVE thanks to Christy in CC's Unlimited for sourcing this bike for me. He went above and beyond the call of duty, from ensuring warranty coverage to prompt delivery n sourcing the best deal... I've been buying bikes for 16 years (I've had over 40) amd I've never come across a more... [Read More]

Apr 29, 2017 - 7:51 PM - by PaulJ
Hi All

Heading off with a mate to Spain next Saturday taking in the Jerez Moto GP on Sunday and 3 days touring on hired bikes (Tracer 900s). Temperatures likely to be mid to high 20s. Choice between vented leathers and textiles. Thinking of going with the leathers. Any thoughts?

Great 15 day tour of Wales and the UK.
Irish Ferries Swift fast ferry is a god send, fast way to get to Holyhead.
Filled here up with 98ron while over there.

Saw some lovely sights down through Wales, weather was good for the most part.

Best bits for me were BSB Brands Hatch and also managing to get out on the Top Gear Test track and also chat with the McLaren race cage team.
The 747 Jumbo Jet is unreal up close, its HUGE.

Enjoyed a VIP day in Mercedes Benz World in Brooklands while over there.

The S1000rr was comfy to ride with all the gear strapped onto her.
And the cage promiscuous lady worked a treat too.

Tyco BMW have wheeled in Alastair Seeley to replace the injured Davide Giugliano at Oulton Park’s MCE British Superbike round this weekend.

The Carrickfergus rider, who is campaigning the team’s S1000RRs at this year’s North West 200, isn’t on Supersport duty as his Spirit team takes a development break until Snetterton so will take the reins for both Superbike races.

Apr 28, 2017 - 11:01 AM - by Dandy Mott
Howyee lads...

Apologies for the noobish thread just looking for a bit of advice ahead of a proposed purchase as I'm not all that mechanically minded (to say the least). Anyway am looking at a bike tomorrow afternoon down in Tipp and just wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything when looking her over... so the things to ask/look for are:

- How many previous owners
- Where it came from originally
- Service history
- Users manual, log book, spare keys
- Ever been crashed/dropped - Look for scratches/dents etc
- Check the chain/sprockets
- Check the tyre tread depth etc
-Check for signs of rust
- Check brake fluid level etc
-Take for a test drive - make sure the steering is balanced, smooth... [Read More]

» Filtering on big cruisers/bikes with panniers
Apr 27, 2017 - 4:36 PM - by the dessert fox
Was filtering past a mile of standing traffic this morning when an oncoming car swerved towards me, trying to force me in. Was on the white line. The bastard went by gesticulating angrily. What a prick.
Anyway it set me thinking about filtering with wider bikes, given that I'm in the market for something more age appropriate (see my Guzzi wanted ad) Obviously room is an issue between lanes, but what about outside? I have seen cruisers sitting in traffic, and that's just not my way of biking. Is it practical to push on through, is my question?

Howya folks,

I have to change over my lovely English reg to an Irish one and to do that, I've myself booked into the NCT centre for them to have a gander at it and say that 'yes, Alan, this is in fact, a motorcycle....'

I have my invoice for it, proof of address and the two forms to be filled out.

Should I put the baffles back into the exhausts I wonder?? I don't want to be sent home because the examiner has gone from being visually impaired to being audibly impaired as a result Could it be a requirement???

Tanks loves,

» BSB 2017 - Byrne: It's quite simple, I might be too old for this shit
Apr 27, 2017 - 10:40 AM - by Admin
Defending MCE British Superbike champion Shane Byrne heads to Oulton Park with a straightforward message which is to return to winning ways to kick-start his 2017 campaign.

The Be Wiser Ducati rider has endured an abominable start to the season after being ruled out of the opening round with concussion at Donington Park, Byrne bursted his bollocks for a fourth position in race one at Brands Hatch Indy before crashing out in the second race which he felt, miserable and dejected after..

With just 13 points to his name and zero podium points after two rounds, Shakey already trails the top six Showdown spots by 23 points while BSB championship leader Leon Haslam has amassed a resounding 86 points already with 14 podium points.

With seven rounds until the... [Read More]

Apr 27, 2017 - 9:59 AM - by RTV

Before getting the R6 I was advised to put a steering damper right away and now that I've started pushing the bike a little bit more, I definitely see the point of adding one.

Now, the known brands are quite expensive at north of 500 yoyos for Ohlins and GPR. They're the best, I'm sure but.. do you have any experience with the alternative less known brands?

I've seen things like these UK chaps for half the price:

And of course, the Chinese mock offs on ebay that I wouldn't trust for just a few euros.

Any experiences and recommendations are... [Read More]

» Tyre sizes for an older bike: where to buy?
Apr 26, 2017 - 10:50 AM - by -alan-

I've been looking for a set of tyres for the CB450.

The sizes are:

110/90 - 19" on the front (or 3.25 x 19)
120/90 - 18" on the rear (or 4.00 x 18)

My local man can't get them in the right sizes. A quick search on the internet shows they can be got, but aren't cheap.. c. 100 euro an end, plus fitting and balancing

Qn - are the web prices about right, or is that a bit over the odds ? there anybody round Dubland you'd suggest who might supply and fit them ?

Today I decided to count how many cunts on phones I saw on the way home from work, the route I took home was about 18km, a mix of town, country roads and villages and I spotted 6 with the phone up to the ear in that time
Just for the hell of it "count the cunts on phones while driving" for your next few trips and post here - distance and how many you see.

Don't take it too seriously tho tis only a bit of fun
