» Thinking of buying a Cycleshell
Sep 20, 2018 - 5:05 PM - by BooBiQ
Hi guys,

I'm considering investing in a Cycleshell to cover the bike and any future bike I
decide to upgrade to. Have any of you used one before or something similar?

I have no access to a garage so currently the bike sits out front on the driveway, with a generic cover pulled over it. Does the job but its less then ideal.

What drew me to the Cycleshell was the addition of the base. There seems to be a lot of tent-like covers out there but none that I've seen have the base.

Price is a bit steep @ $425 (Tourer version) so is there some thing else I should be looking at?

Thanks for reading

Sep 19, 2018 - 11:01 PM - by vifferman
I've never heard of the "paced Bicycle land speed record", but

"Bicyclist Denise Mueller-Korenek with pace car driver Shea Holbrook has shattered the overall paced Bicycle land speed record on September 16, 2018 at the Bonneville Salt Flats during the World of Speed event. The previous men’s/overall record was set in 1995 by Fred Rompelberg of the Netherlands at 166.944 mph and Denise shattered that record by going 183.932 mph."

Here's an interesting article about the design of the bike she used. More motorbike than bicycle

The Dutch bloke ... [Read More]

Sep 19, 2018 - 1:33 PM - by Bon Scott
I am planning on going to the TT in 2019 or 2020 with 2 other lads. One lad & myself on bikes, the other in a car. 4 days, possibly including senior day but not set in stone. What i am looking for is some info on the best campsites, places to watch etc etc. Now i've been researching campsites but i'm looking for first hand knowledge. Chopper off here told me about Glenlough Campsite (i think)
& it was a good spot. Has anyone ever used this site
We'd like to be able to get to Douglas handy enough

Hi lads,

Saw a CBR 400 with the black and silver paintjob sitting up against the barriers just off the exit ramp from junction 14 northbound. Just taught I'd put it out there in case someone's has gone missing. Looked in fairly original nick.
Hope whoever owns it gets it sorted one way or another.

Sep 19, 2018 - 10:32 AM - by ascalon
So, took the bike this morning and had to pop into the bank before work, from D15 to D18.

The wind wasn't too bad on the way, but was still cautious about parking.

Parked in what looked like a fairly sheltered spot, only to be alerted to the sound of crunching plastic as I walked away!

Down on its side, and petrol pissing out through the tank overflow!

A very kind passerby gave me a hand get it up and out of the worst of the gusts.

Fortunately, scraped bar ends and bust mirror is all that's damaged.

I'll take that!

Stay safe chaps, seems at its worst here at the moment. THere's stuff going sideways past a second floor window.

Sep 18, 2018 - 7:48 PM - by FlatOut
I have a mint Schuberth S1 Pro , which i love to bits , but it needs a refurbishment , the linings and padding could do with replacing.

I can get all the bits, except the cheek pads.
I've searched everywhere, all the ebays, amazons etc.
I even got on to the Schuberth factory, with no luck.

Does anyone know of someone who can make a new set of cheekpads ?

I imagine it would need the correct type/density of foam and then be shaped to fit the lining that covers it.

Any ideas ?

» Tyres - some questions
Sep 18, 2018 - 2:07 PM - by Dub Duke
Looking to replace the rear tyre on the Yamaha R6. Appreciate if you could give me info / thoughts on the following:

1. What tyre would suit some wet, not too wear out after 1000 miles, but decent grip (Michelin Road Pilots seem to get a couple of nods on the internet). Not big mileage, but can be a fair bit when weather is dry for a while.

2. Where would you go for supply and fitment? Greater Dublin area, (north county ideal)

3. Does anyone on here order tyres and then get someone to fit them? If so, where do you order from and where fits supplied-tyres?

(I'd rather ride in somewhere and leave 40 minutes later with new rubber if it doesn't cripple me bank account).

Also (4) - do ye ever replace rear and front at... [Read More]

just wondering if anyone knows where to get hold of a decent work bench? I'm just after something that would be a good height to do general work and be able to take a decent vice and also stand up to a bit of stick should something need a bit of "gentle persuasion" with a hammer.

Pirelli Supersport

Jason Lynn dominated the Supersport races at this weekend’s David Wood Memorial Trophy taking all 3 wins to retain the award. While Kia McGreevey challenged him off the line, once past, Lynn simply disappeared on the Walter Bell\Slemish Water Yamaha R6. There were fantastic battles for the remaining podium positions from Kia McGreevey, Christian Elkin and Simon Reid.

Hello lads, a month or so ago i posted a thread on this lovely forum asking some general stuff about getting into bikes here in eire.
I must say, all is well and the cash is in hand and im about to buy.
I went to see a scooter today, and after taking a spin i concluded it was pretty good. Its a mbk ovetto 2004, the fella selling it is not really into them but he does resell stuff. So the bike needs a battery, stand spring, few bulbs and i need to change the belt rollers and whatnot ( im working in a car mechanic shop so)
I just wanted to post the pics here and ask if anyone knows anything about this bike or can give me some lead on anything that may be on its way out.
From what i concluded: Steering is straight, no sideway movement in the wheels, stop light... [Read More]

If you're watching BSB rounds hosting the British Talent Cup, keep an eye on Michael Swann's son Scott. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Scott Swann takes his first win in British Superbike Hell Performance Moto3 STD race. Following on from his recent 2nd and 3rd place podiums at Caldwell Park and a 4th place in the British Talent Cup MotoGP race at Silverstone, the 15 year old Carrickfergus Academy Schoolboy continued his good run of form into round 6 of the British Motostar Championship. » SV650s Curvy to .....
Sep 13, 2018 - 9:01 AM - by GONKO
Hi All

Over the next few months I am thinking about moving to a supersport bike.
It is purely for looks (I don't even use the power of my SV lol).

I passed my test in the summer, riding bike about a year with approx2-3k miles under my belt.

Now if I go for a 600 or 1000 sports bike, are they too much to control?
I find the SV650 is quite jerky on the throttle when transitioning between on and off the throttle. The torque and power are instant and not built up linear.

I hear the 600's only get mental when you wind them up over 7k.....and smooth below this. This appeals to me as I am assuming it may be better than the SV for low speed on and off throttle etc.

Now - I am also able to insure the 1000's.... [Read More]

My old ones are falling apart and the water was attracted to the things.
Is gore Tex the best kind of material for waterproof.
Have about €150 to spend on gloves and €200 on boots.
Found a couple on that are gore Tex within my budget ..
Is there better material I should be looking out for?
The ones I found were mostly richa and tcx.
