Yamaha France are at it again with 2 limited edition YZF R1 's in response to the Yamaha Endurace Race Team.
The YZF R1 SP & YZF R1 SP-R
The first (SP) features a fairing in exclusive colors, Akrapovic silencer, protective housings seat backrest and a support plate and some carbon bits.
This additions on (SP-R) the Yamaha YZF R1 R-adds a high spec Ohlins fork set up and high spec Ohlins rear shock. In addition it will also have a stiffer suspension then the SP above.
Both special editions are in limited numbers and available for order late 2010 from Yamaha Fr.
There are no performance changes to the internals of the engine.
Price..........under 20k for the higher spec i'd imagine (?).
OK, i'm heading over to oulton park as its near where i'm from and i'll be home that weekend.
Last race of the season! So should be exciting enough...hope its not pissing it down raining!
Anyone been there before? Know where the best spots are for viewing the races etc?
will be driving there with my mate in the car so does anyone know what the situation is for parking? it says free on the site but i'd assume thats bikes only.
Just wanna share an experience with ye,c wot ye think! I was in a honda dealers recently pricing the new cbr600rr. And was chatting to the salesperson as ya do,we were just discussin prices and he was sayin bout all the jap manafacturers prices could be different every day coz of the recession. anyway at one stage he said about SUZUKI were puttin up the price of the R1. Fair enuf i thought just a slip of the tongue....BUT he kept referring to suzuki and their R1. He said it loads of times again....in fairness id imagine gettin a job in a motorbike dealers would involve a reasonable knowledge of bikes in general?????
Sorry I am only getting around to this now. Back in work a week now and its been nuts.
Anyway I just wanted to do a quick review of my experience at the Portimao Circuit last month as promised and share a few pictures from the two days.
Let me start by saying bl&@dy Portuguese! Such nice people and great fun, but they cant arrange anything. Finer details are ignored. You may remember I posted last month to say I had a call and was told that I was the only person booked in for the school and as a result would be having one on one instruction from Miguel Praia? Well what they meant was you are the only English Speaking person attending the school so Miguel will do his best to make sure you understand!
Ok, so I was going to sell my CB 400 but as there wasn't much interest so I've decided to keep it. It needs two rear shocks and I got a quote from Brooks Suspension for £100 each to rebuild the original ones but I see hagon ones for sale for around £145 delivered new. What is the best option considering I'll probaoly keep her for a year or so. I also need the seat recovered, where can this be done and roughly how much does it cost?
As it's the last road race of the season this weekend, I am hoping to get a few decent photos of John Walsh #61 on the EICL Race bike.
I am hoping to get some good action shots (cranked over/on the back wheel - or perhaps on the front in John's case/jumps/grid/etc.) Anyone who gets some, please forward to chillers@eicl.ie. I'll happily pay (a small price) for a few good prints. Cheers, Pete
Evening all,a mate of a mate has a gsxr 1000 k7.the lad he bought it off did a couple of track days on it and stiffened up the suspension, also we think he changed the rear ride height cause he struggles to get his feet on the ground while he has no problem reaching the ground on his mates 1000 k6.the standard seat height should be the same on both bikes.the bike is to stiff for road use and i was wondering does anyone know how to get the standard factory setings for 1000 k7.cheers
Effin brilliant. Haven't really needed the hotgrips until now. And as i went out on the lunch and stopped at a redlight i noticed that the knob is gone. I've checked all the parkinglot and a fair bit out on the road.

Any Irish bike shops still bringing in japanese imports? I've half an idea of getting a late 80's/early 90's GSXR. If anyone has a jap one of these, what should I look out for and what are the differences to European models? Any links to reliable info appreciated
I was wondering if it is possible to lower the CB by using simple brackets to move the bottom bolting point on the rear shocks backwards by an inch or two?
It seems to be a common mod on big cruisers.
The prosecutor of Rimini has reportedly launched an investigation into the death of Shoya Tomizawa following the Moto2 Grand Prix at Misano.
According to the Italian ANSA news agency, Paolo Giovagnoli will begin an inquest into the 19-year-old’s tragic death in a move that could also see criminal charges being brought.
Tomizawa crashed on lap 12 of the race into the path of Alex de Angelis and Scott Redding, but the race was not stopped as track marshals swiftly stretchered him off the circuit.
However, Tomizawa was then accidentally dropped by a marshal when they stumbled whilst carrying through the gravel.
With an impending autopsy set to reveal exactly what contributed to his death, ANSA says Giovagnoli is considering bringing... [Read More]

Got new pads and lines. The lever is rock solid. The steering pulls to the left on braking and the left disc is hotter than the right after a run. I pushed the right pistons out a bit and greased them but no good. I'm assuming that dismantling the calliper and using new seals should sort it out..............or will it
Here's a wee report on a recent trip of mine which included a GJ Track Day & an always worthwhile visit to Cadwell Park to make the trip from N Ireland more enjoyable. I'll try not to bore anyone too much but the trip, for me, included a good few new experiences...........
DAY 1 (the boring bit)
We (Nig & I) packed the VW Transporter with 2 bikes & all the kit, it ended up so full you couldn't see the bikes, then we left my house at about mid-day drove to Dublin & got the fast boat from there to Holyhead, from there we drove through North Wales & into England crossing the whole way to Mart & Tracey's house with only 1 food stop at the most rank Burger King ever, we did have a couple of smoke breaks but this was only an excuse made by me to... Has anyone got a spare rear brake caliper for a Yamaha Fazer 600 '01?
Failing that a tool for removing a seized piston from one?
I have tried to remove it using pressure from the brake, compressed air, heat & no joy. In City Spares try said there is an expander tool you can use, but theirs was too small.
So in the process of buying a bike for commuting about 40 miles per day.
My head tells me I need to buy a Honda Deauville 650. Nice and comfortable and will keep you fairly dry even on those wet winter nights.
Then my heart is screaming at the top of its lungs to buy a Harley Sportster. I love its riding style, look and of course the noise.
Both gonna cost the same money to buy, mind you the Harley might cost more to maintain. let me know what you all think. Can the Harley be used as a commuter or is it crazy
