» Cadwell BSB: Kennedy dominates Supersport qualifying
Aug 18, 2018 - 11:40 AM - by Admin
Jack Kennedy resumed form at the front of the Dickies British Supersport qualifying pack this morning to take pole position for this afternoon’s Sprint race.

The Integro Yamaha rider led nearly every minute of the half-hour session to take pole position as he continues to battle back from hand and wrist injuries sustained early last month.

Kennedy, whilst attempting to perform the heimlich maneuver on a blow up doll called Candy, had highsided from the first storey balcony of a party near Pittsburgh and broke two metacarpals & chipped his collarbone, and has been struggling to regain full fitness at BSB since the incident.

The Irishman shot to the front with his first flying lap, but it didn’t take long for Gearlink Kawasaki’s... [Read More]

» Little curved mirrors for extra view angle
Aug 16, 2018 - 11:35 AM - by Frankkilty
As per the title, I'm looking to buy some of those little curved mirrors that stick on to the bikes mirrors. I'm doing life savers but thought these might help. I'm a big guy and find my arms are often in the way when I'm checking the mirrors no matter which way I position them. Anyone use them? Any good? Any cons? Any links to good value ones?

» Confused with all the types of dirt bikes
Aug 14, 2018 - 9:27 PM - by seantobin43
Hi

I thinking of buying a dirt bike because I often go off with my friends and we drive around woods and mountains.

So what I want is a 4 stroke bike between 250-350cc

Budget is €3000 and might stretch it to €4000

Also I only want to buy my bike from a dealer

Do it really matter if I buy a motocross or a enduro?

» Visiting NW200 (from Australia)
Aug 14, 2018 - 7:53 AM - by The Mekon
I am seeking some information on visiting the NW200 (I know there is a website). My wife & I hope to visit Ireland in May next year, She wants to see a friend in Dublin, and I want to see some races at the NW200.
We may take a cottage in Ireland/N Ireland and then either use a car or train to reach destinations. Is this feasible for the NW200? and how near to Coleraine/Port Stewart would we need to be to get there for a day's racing?
20miles, 50miles, 70 miles? I take it you do not need to book stand ticket to see some of the racing - or is it best to do so?

Any guidance would be really appreciated.

Thanks John

» Bike prices in Ireland
Aug 13, 2018 - 11:46 PM - by Michael_Barwick
Hello,
I have been looking to buy a scooter or a 125cc bike in a few months after saving some money. I thought the cost of tax and insurance will get the price up to 1500-2000 in total for the first time rider in Ireland for sure.
And i get my collegues at work telling me to get a zerox, that i can find them for like 300e. They werent taking the piss, they genuinely said that.
I obviously asked, where can i get an zerox for 300e, they just said dude look on donedeal.
I work in a mechanic shop and one dude is a biker, they seem pretty serious.
So im just wondering, is there a trick i dont know of? Or do they just sell like hot cakes?

» Steps for import a bike from NI
Aug 13, 2018 - 3:56 PM - by DimNbk
Hi all, finally got a bike(kawa zxr400-L5) brought it home with full signed V5C.

IMG_1943.jpg

If I understand correctly my next steps will be:

1)Fill the v5c/4 to v5c/8
2)Send v5c/11 export form(filled by ex-owner) to notify DVLA
3)Pass NCTS
4)Register in the Republic
5)Insure

Or I have to get v5c on my name and only then proceed with export/import story?

Thanks

» Noobie Question about rev needle and accelerating
Aug 13, 2018 - 2:10 PM - by maxjam
So im accelerating on the Deauville.... (when you stop laughing and rolling around on the floor, continue reading please) .... but anyway, wanted to know if this is normal?

Ill go to change gear,
select gear, twist the throttle and release the clutch to accelerate, the needle will initially spike up to 5/6000 rpm for a couple of seconds but the bike isn't accelerating, then needle will drop back a few thousand revs and the bike will kick in... is this normal or should I get it checked out? Im a new rider and just getting used to the bike.

I thought that if i'm in a gear and twist, that the back wheel should respond immediately, not this spike and drop ?

Advice welcome.

» Cummins and Johnston to team up with Padgetts
Aug 13, 2018 - 11:10 AM - by Admin
Padgetts Racing will field an impressive two-rider line up at this year’s Classic TT with Conor Cummins and Lee Johnston contesting two races for the Batley-based outfit.

Cummins will again campaign a 750cc Yamaha OW01 in the RST Superbike Classic TT Race while Johnston will have his first taste of two-stroke racing around the Mountain Course riding a 250cc Honda in the Dunlop Lightweight Classic TT Race.

Manxman Cummins has ridden the OW01 for the last two years, finishing a fine fourth in 2016 and backing this up with sixth in 2017 and he has also lapped at an impressive 122.216mph on the ex-Rob McElnea machine.

Johnston will ride a similar 250cc Honda to that ridden to victory by Bruce Anstey in each of the last two years, when he also... [Read More]

» Hickman king of the roads with wins at three internationals
Aug 13, 2018 - 9:21 AM - by Admin
Peter Hickman admitted his win in the Superbike race at the 2018 Ulster Grand Prix felt a bit ‘strange’ with the victory being awarded after just two laps of the race had been completed.

Click the image to open in full size.

Rain brought the race - scheduled for seven laps - to come to an abrupt end and as the weather worsened, the remaining races were cancelled.

It meant Hickman, like other riders, had three of his races cancelled over the course of the two days... [Read More]

Aug 12, 2018 - 9:35 PM - by Caffeine
I seem to increasingly be experiencing heel pain when riding long enough. I changed the insoles of my forma boots to in theory something better but the pain remains (bottom of heel, near sole)

Can't figure if it's from middle of foot on pegs, or toes, or something completely different.

Any ideas?

» DRZ400 or CB600 fa7
Aug 11, 2018 - 1:56 PM - by Steo
Hi guys

I dont post much here but enjoy reading the website. What would be better, a DRZ or a hornet 600 for a daily 20 min commute each way (not motorway). I dont have a lot of storage space (just a small garage) and would like a bike as light as possible for getting around traffic.

I used to do a bit of motorway riding to the west, but lately I only do that 2 or 3 times a year now.

At the moment I have a 07 hornet (I cant update my profile) which is very nimble and light (Especially compared to the vulcan 800 i was using before), but im going to view a DRZ later today. I hear they are a lot of fun.

What do you think? Any advice would be appreciated. ... [Read More]

Seems you could be right..

"HD turned its marketing in the early ’80s to a toxic stew of machismo and white nationalism dog whistles. It fostered a culture of ugly male entitlement.

And it got a lot of white, middle-aged accountants and lawyers to buy into being weekend assholes, regardless of how careful they were to be useful members of society the rest of the week. Can anyone give me a bit of info here.
I want to buy some shims and on wemoto there are 8 uk pounds each which is very expensive for a tiny bit of metal so

I am looking at shim packs with 3 of each size and 140 total shims in the box.
It lists all the bike it will do and gsxr's and busas etc but that box is 80usd and 15 shipping and 15 approx import tax.
They are American made by Hot Cams.
i dont trust the chinese ones on ebay even there are expensive at 3.90 each but there is another American made box of shims but half the amount of the Hot Cams ones and has
44 shims of all sizes and costs 35USD with free shipping US only so I can use the addresspal an post usa address as straight delivery is 30usd.

» Abolishing Daylight Saving
Aug 06, 2018 - 5:21 PM - by efanton
The time for submissions for abolishing day light saving (putting the clock back in winter) has nearly expired.

Dont know about the rest of you, but personally I think putting the clocks back during winter is ludicrous. Having that extra hour of daylight in the evenings would make a huge improvement to road safety, especially bikers.
As a biker that commutes the whole year round on my motorcycle abolishing the daylight saving would be very welcome.

You can fill out a very short online questionnaire that will take no more that two minutes. If enough EU citizens vote then we can force this change.

Image on the right calls out 22 & 24mm dimensions .. £20

Image on left calls out 22mm Handlebar - but shows 'channels' or splinds on one grip - leading me to think this is OK for Throttle as the splind type design will stretch 2mm (And its a Motorcycle grip which you'd think would deal withe the sleeve. this Pair is £6.
