» Bar end weights- Stuck
May 29, 2017 - 1:29 PM - by ENGLISH
Hi,

any successful tips on extracting bar end weights. 1993 GS500 - I have backed out the retaining screws a couple of turns and have tried to wiggle and tap the weights off but the rubber bung inside the bar appears to be stuck fast.

I have squirted plenty of WD40 inside the bars as best I can and will see tonight if that has helped at all.

» Recommendation for powder coat/respray in Galway.
May 29, 2017 - 11:46 AM - by Trogdor
Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone can recommend where I can get the fuel tank on my fazer resprayed/powder coated in Galway?

The tank is in good condition however it is weathered and signs of rust are starting to appear on the top of the tank.

I was going to do it myself with cans however after pricing the correct paint etc (not any ole cheap stuff) it was getting quite expensive so I thought I would go the extra mile and get it done professionally.

I might even consider getting the rear fairing done.

Any help appreciated.

» Best place to buy fork seals?
May 29, 2017 - 8:59 AM - by Burt_Munro
I burst the seal in the front fork on my Ducati recently and decided to do the job myself! The seals in the shock have the markings QHWA 40 52 9.5/10.5, RGF01, KACO and the dust seal has 533281-1, Marzocchi 40, Rolf 9.
Going to try Rosso but because of the year I doubt they have them in stock.

The bike is a Ducati 750ss 1997 model with Marzocchi shocks.

» Deep clean of ER6 frame
May 28, 2017 - 10:38 PM - by ER6F (Freedom)
Have had my ER6 F garaged for a while but want to tidy it up before heading on the road.

it is a 2007 in relatively good nick but has rust on the frame and all those crevices you don't want rust.

Thinking of
1. brush off the loose crap, sand down any visible rust or

2. power hose it completely down and then sand down the rust or

3. brush or hose it down, use a rust converter product and paint over.

Whats the best approach to take and products to use including new silver paint?

Looking for new tyres for the GSXR.
I'v had Pilot Road 3 on my old GSXR but I'v had a fair few lads tell me they are more designed towards touring.
I'v heard good reviews about Metzeler SPORTEC M7 RR.
Any feedback on something to suit my bike would be great

May 28, 2017 - 9:15 PM - by killer
Hi,

Quick overview of this restoration.
1969 Dnepr K650. I was honoured to do this project. Only got the bike 4 weeks ago. Had to have it turned around to ship to Greece for a wedding in June 17th. Bike is leaving ireland tomorrow 29/05/17.

See quick project overview.

Fallen for this bike its such a cool bike...! Turned out to be a very smart bike. It was very tired. swingarm falling out of it. front headstocks were goosed. brakes all siezed, paintwork all tired.

» Took the new lid for a spin.
May 28, 2017 - 6:26 PM - by eyore
Grand spin today, Tarbert, Castlemaine, Killarney, Molls Gap, Sneem,Waterville, Ballinskelligs, Portmagee, Castlemaine,Inch, Camp, Tralee and home.
Wore the new Arai Chaser X which replaces the 6/7 year old Quantum.
Wore it all day and dead comfortable, its the new shell shape and the fit is the same, great ventilation and its the first Arai I have had that can be genuinely called quiet. The ventilation is really good and the visor aperture is wider than the Quantum giving more peripheral vision. The new lock mechanism is really good ensuring a good seal when its shut and the positive open positions are a good solid click.
Dead pleased all round

May 27, 2017 - 2:27 PM - by fabio
Hi folks,

Looking for some advice on a European trip I have planned [well, not planned as such...that's why I need advice!].

Basically want to take in a bit of Germany, mainly the south of it, go into Austria and northern Italy before turning back for Cherbourg.

That's the verrrrry loose plan. I have three weeks in which I can do all of this and would like to take a couple of days off here and there to see cities and sights.

What roads, regions, cities would ye recommend?

Thanks!

May 26, 2017 - 6:34 PM - by R.M
Coming from Tralee into NCW today there was a Gatso van on my side of road with rear facing me.

I may have been over the limit approaching the van but got to under 100kph before passing it.

If the van picked up I was over the speed limit approaching it, then can it pick up my reg (from a front pointing camera) when I passed it (at under the legal speed) & send on fine?

Here's hoping no!!

Question is, how long should the rest of the championship be suspended for pending his recovery?

1 month, 2 months? Award him the championship now and be done with it?
