Im not having much luck in the garage with fixing shit latley!

Between the Cbr250 clutch acting the bollix and the Drz not starting Im nearly thinking of becoming an alchoholic coz it may be cheaper and easier...

The Drz started acting up at the paddy dakar.
It started fine until half way through the day then it would just click when hitting the starter. Electric start only.

So I push started it most of the day.
It would also start if put it in gear, pushed it forward then hit the starter like it was unsticking the starter.

Got it home, the starter bushes were fairly worn so replaced them.

Now here is... [Read More]

» Injected sv dying at 49 / 50 degrees C
Oct 18, 2017 - 2:30 PM - by frozen
2003 fuel injected sv650s with around 25k miles
like clockwork 3 times in a row, it runs fine and then when it reaches 49 going on 50 degrees it'll just die from idling. Revving when its this hot feels vibey and power is way down and if you open the throttle fully on the road you feel pulsing power like traction control and no real acceleration at all. You can keep it from dying at 49 degrees by giving revs but sometimes they just drop anyway and you have to give it loads more throttle to keep going

rolling off throttle while it's hot the engine just dies while riding, caught me out a couple of times yesterday on the road and it was dangerous

when it's cold it fires up on the first turn over of the engine and sounds and runs perfectly till it gets... [Read More]

» Pipeworx Slash Cut end 'can' on the R6
Oct 17, 2017 - 12:35 PM - by Motomong
Searched for Pipeworx on here and only came up with one mention, so thought I'd share the latest thing I changed on the R6. I commute on this in Dublin every day and wanted a bit of noise, to try reduce the amount of gobshites that pull out in front of me. Came across these simple bits of pipe and said fuck it, we'll give that a go. They're about €110 after postage etc. Yeah you could DIY it but I don't have the tools for that, and it's nice and clean.

Noise-wise the bike still has the cat for now, and I'm only on it a month or two so I don't need a full exhaust yet. It's marginally louder and bassier than the stock can, but not so much that it'll have the guards tailing you, and it's very satisfying at full chat.

The dent in the swingarm was well hidden by... [Read More]

Oct 16, 2017 - 7:05 PM - by robh
Hi there, I'm new to the forum but I thought there would be peeps out there who might be interested in the Classic Superbike Racing at Mondello (and thanks Chopper for giving this shoutout an OK)
If your currently racing or thinking of starting racing you might want to consider joining this class for next year. It has been running for the past few years and has become a feature at the Masters and the Irish championship at Mondello.
Anyone is eligible , theres no age limit. The bikes are up to 1993 or equivalent model if they remained unchanged after that year. four strokes and 2 strokes up to 1010cc ( max allowed on track in Ireland, but not sure anyone is checking too hard) That means zxr750's, fzr/yzf750-1000, gsxr's, Fj1100, ducati 851/888, honda rs250's, honda... Might be a silly question lads but I need an answe nonetheless if anybody can help. I recently bought a bike and have been let down on the logbook as it's now been a number of weeks and the previous owner is dodging calls. I was just wondering if it's possible to do anything about getting a new one. As far as I'm aware you can claim it's lost to receive a new one but I'm pretty sure it had to be in my name and possession in the first place in order to do that ? Any help Is appreciated.

Oct 16, 2017 - 3:08 PM - by bloke
Cotters seem to have a huge range and good prices, but with the ol Republic of VAT there should be better deals on the web. I came across just on a google search and cripes but they seem to have ever helmet under the sun and some savage deals on some race-rep designs in limited sizes.

Has anyone else used them and would recommend, or... where do ye go for lids?

» Your BIKE COVER Makes a great SAIL
Oct 16, 2017 - 1:43 PM - by The Road Runner
Just a heads up, bikes outdoors with a bike cover are at a high risk of being blown over today or tonight, happens every year someone comes on saying that their bike was damaged in the fall, and it can be expensive, a bike on its side stand has a better chance than a main stand, I have just lashed my yoke to a (railing or anything secure) on the sidestand side in gear, I have done this for years now without ever having an issue. good luck....

» Progressive access quite complicated
Oct 15, 2017 - 4:15 PM - by redking
Was just looking at the RSA chart for the progressive access licenses, it's awful hard to understand exactly.
I'm currently on an A1 learners permit as I'm 17, I'm looking at getting the A2 right away when I'm 18. To my knowledge, the chart seems to show that progressive access from A1 to A2 is the same as just going for direct access A2.
I'm not quite sure if it works like this but from what I can see I'd be able to just apply for the A2 learner once I'm 18 and then do module 5 of the lgbt and then I can ride on an A2. Any chance I'm wrong here? Do I need to do the A1 test before applying for an A2 or does it become disregarded once I reach 18?

Hi all, iv been thinking about it for years but I think I'm going to do it. I want to get a bike on the road.

I have my Theory test done
I'm going to book the lgbt next month.

The father has a Nighthawk 750 and I love it, so its that kind of bike I'm looking for, the original single headlight and not too much plastic type.

I have narrowed it down I think to either a
Honda Hornet 2003-2006
Suzuki Bandit 2005-2006

Id love to get some more suggestions

I'm 31 and 5ft 9'

What do you reckon insurance would be like?
And what do you think of the bikes?

Thanks in advance

Oct 14, 2017 - 2:54 PM - by Duke RR
Just looking for opinions from owners.

Ive missed out on two 1200 Super Tenere's in the UK ( ) , which im a staunch advocate of. Superb bike.

A DCT xtourer is not a bike id ever considered, but kinda been offered an ok deal from UK dealer who ive been chatting with. Using a maxi scooter yam has me swaying to the dct auto.

Anyone here own one, how top heavy are they? The v4 engine is a peach but how thirsty is it? Whats your tank range on average ?

It will be used for two up & single rider applications.

( New africa twin ive rode, so not considering it ).

Oct 11, 2017 - 10:13 PM - by tommyboy123
Story Lads and Lassies, just a quick question.
The Regulator Rectifier failed on my bike (85 Gsx 750ef) recently. I got a friend of mine to pick up a replacement from city spares, 50 euros happy days. The replacement regulator is a fair bit different in size and shape to the old one, but the bolt spacing is similar and it seems to fit. I crimp new spade connectors to the positive and negative wires, plug these and the and the other three (from the alternator) which already had connectors attached into the block connector, cross my fingers, fire it up. Success! its showing 14.5 Volts across the rev range from 1100rpm to 7000 as opposed to the 16.5 it had being showing before.

I have to drive the bike from Laois to Dublin in the next couple of days and i'm... [Read More]

Gonna fit a full system to my crf rally and apparantly because it’s a closed loop ecu I will need to refit the o2 sensor unfortunately as I was hoping to scrap it.
The routing of the new pipe is different so the wire for the sensor is too short to reach, so what I want to know is can the wires be extended or because it’s a sensor am I better off not? And if it can’t be extended will a sensor from another Honda Fit as long as connectors are the same?

» Breakdown service
Oct 11, 2017 - 8:09 PM - by sparkykelly69
Hey guys so some scummer tried stealing my bike from my front garden a few weeks back. In the process of breaking the steering lock he bent the handlebars. And because he couldn't take the bike he decided to bend the clutch+ brake handles in the process.
So I've managed to order replacement handlebars and clutch + brake handles. And getting a bike shop to take a look at it on Sat. My question is do I need to ring my breakdown service Saturday morning or can I ring them prior to Saturday to come sat morning?

Cheers in advance
