Default eagle

was out for a spin this morning with two others were about half way between sligo and ballina, i was in front and came around a corner to find a huge bird of prey on the road with what looked like a dead rabbit it took off when it heard me but i had to duck my head to avoid hitting it. because it was so big it was slow to take off when i looked back it was coming down again to pick up its meal thats when the other lads saw it the only thing i noticed was it had white tail feathers and i know because my head was nearly buried up its ass, when i looked it up there is a white tailed eagle but they seem to be in kerry maybe this one strayed north ?any bird experts on here?

There was something on RTE the other night about bringing eagles back into Donegal about 10 years ago , 50 Eagles were brought in over the years iirc . Seen a bird of prey a couple of times outside Enfield , no idea what it was , looked the business , can only imagine what it looked like if you had to duck to avoid it

The adult White-tailed Eagle is mainly brown but has a distinctive white tail. It is a scavenger and feeds principally on carrion (e.g. dead seals, birds, sheep, deer) but also preys on seabirds, fish, rabbits, hares and fox cubs.
