for the technical guys among you does anyone know if a cdi unit can be repaired, the one in question is a TIA 02-17 its actually off a yamaha 60 hp outboard two stroke motor of early 80s vintage and replacement prices quoted you would want to win the lotto, i presume it must be similar to other cdi s , grateful for any help.

nothing cannot be repaired it just sometimes is cheaper to replace it.
If you can dismantle the unit and gain access to the coils then its possible to repair it.The replacement needs to be bloody expensive though to go to the hassle of rewinding em. there is some amount of wire in one of those, probably 10000 turns on the secondary winding |
