Should there be a brown wire going to the alternator, with a bullet connector on it?
Wee bro was looking at it, and reckoned there's a brown wire hanging loose.

difficult to zoom but bottom middle I'm sure says alternator and brown and white wires connected to it - might help

Thanks man.

Right. I was out at the bike this evening.
When it's running, it's charging the battery well.
The click though, it's not coming from the solenoid, it seems to be coming from the junction box.
Any ideas lads?

The button still just gives a click. It looks wild dodgy starting the bike by crossing the solenoid, I got some fucked up looks when I had it out for a run

The click is definitely coming from the junction box.

I fuckin hate electric start buttons. Gimme a kick-start any day

Did the solenoid work when you applied battery voltage to it?
Did you check for power (with the starter button pressed) at the 2 terminals that connect to the solenoid?
The only thing you can do is trace back from the starter or forward from the switch until you find the problem. Failing that, take it to someone who knows what they're doing... or burn it.

Thing is, the nearest bike mechanic is 60 miles away, and I have no van. Feck pushing the heavy lump 60 miles.
I'll check if it's getting power when the button is pressed. I'm thinking something's fucked up in the junction box.

Thanks man

The solenoid is showing the same volts as the battery, which was 11.8. The battery's on charge now. When I press the button, fuck all changes, except for the poxy click from the junction box.
Any ideas?

With the battery on charge, the multimeter shows 12.4 volts.
When I turn the key, the voltage drops to 11.8.

Is the battery fuckin sned? That's my conclusion at the minute.

Are you talking about the 2 small spade connectors on the solenoid or the 2 big fookers?

if you're getting battery voltage at the 2 spade connectors when you press the starter button then see if it'll light a 12v bulb. If it does, the solenoid is probably fooked.
Did the bike start when you applied power from the battery as you said you were going to do in your first post?

try seperating and inspecting the connector blocks. my bike totally died a few weeks back because one of the earths had melted inside the connector but there was no visible signs of a problem with the connection till i pulled it apart

It's showing power at the 2 big terminal fuckers.
I wasn't going to apply power directly, I was just using that diagram as a guide as to what way to connect the wires.

Is the drop in voltage when I turn the key a sign of something fucked up?

It will show power at the 2 big terminal fuckers. One of them comes straight from the + side of battery and the other side is earth through the starter.
Remove the two spade connectors and wire the solenoid exactly as that picture shows in your first post. That will tell you if the solenoid is working or not. If the solenoid clicks in and the starter works when you wire it like that then the solenoid is working so the problem is elsewhere... Check for power at the 2 spade connectors when you press the starter button and... Shit, I've just had a serious deja vu moment
