Default cb250

Hey everyone, I just wanted to ask if anyone had any thoughts, advice or recommendations for or against the cb250 for a first bike? Currently I'm a 23 year old cage driver(as alot of bikers seem to put it) with both b+c licenses under my belt. But I've always wanted a Bike(an actual bike none of this moped lark) and now that Ive some spare cash I figure now is as good as time as any to get one.

I have also been looking at the bros and the Hysong gt600(was told that restricted its learner legal in bikeworld, but not sure if I can trust the sales guy) , I defiantly like the Hornet shape (Classic and sporty), has anyone any recommendations? I'm swaying towards a new cb250 insurance with Quinn is about €900 fully comp(I think they are taking into account my car policy with them).

How much will it cost to get kitted out?

I'm in two minds about getting a new bike or something second hand, I'm worried about the possibility of wrecking a new bike, Ive rode a couple of field bikes before when I was younger but nothing this powerful.

I'm also think about rider training, but I'm not sure how much I would need as I have other
Licenses (and with C License I'm already alert to many of the hidden dangers of the roads, not to mention the odd inconsiderate biker who cant read the "do not pass on this side when truck is turning sign" ),anyone any thoughts / recommendations on this?

All the hassle of getting started aside I cant wait to get my full A license and get the missus on the bike as a passenger, more to have an excuse to see her in tight leather more

Em you want a sporty look or a naked , chopper , cruiser look?

Sporty-cbr250rr seems to be the most popular, reliable etc learner legal

, the new ninja 250 seems o.k but a tad bit pricey for a first bike

, even check out the insurance cost on a vfr 400 or the likes

If your going for a naked(i advise this if the insurance is to high on a sports) you might as well go for a 400+ as the insurance aint to bad- the hundreds of em to choose from , cb400 , bandit etc etc.

The lads can advise ya on cruisers and choppers and tell ya what is learner legal b/c im not to familer with this style TBH so im not gona fill ya with bull

as for the truck, I dont drive em any more, was a job during college.

I caught one guy on a zzr out before though,he came up behind me on my inside as i was turning left(indicator on well in advance), I twigged him on the bottem mirror, Stopped putting the front wheel on the curb, got out went round to the passenger side as if to bleed the brakes and Said to him in response to a funny look he gave me "What?, the brakes locked up, you shouldn't be on this side of a truck turning a corner anyway, theres a sign on the back you know? " I then proceeded to pretend to bleed the brakes while he sheep-ishly back peddled his bike to the back of the truck and drove off.

I'm sure for on lookers it was a strange site to see though, but hopefully he'll be more careful when passing trucks in future

Dont bother getting a new one IMO ,

Ya will be only to worried about denting and letting it drop ,crashing etc etc

Which will happen BTW , your gona have a off at some stage in the learning stages , thats why its smart to have good gear on all the time , even if your only on a 250 and learning, and just poping down to the shop's fo smokes or whatever!

Thats a hornet in the pic and you will pick one of them up fairly easy for a small price compared to 5k!

I'm selling my cbr250, it was my second bike, and is perfect, if you like the smaller side of sports bikes. as far as learner bikes go, this is as good as it gets (unless you have a "restricted" gixxer750).

cb250 is a good bike, but tends to be overpriced for a 250cc

I was looking in bikewolrd, think im gonna go with a hyosung gt650 (restricted). guy in the shop say's it can be made learner legal(not sure if this is correct or salesman bullshit).

its €5250 which i know is probably to much for a first bike but Its cash I can spare and am willing to take the risk of crashing and re-sale depreciation.

just wondering if anyone has any comments on this bike besides anything financial? I.e what they like to ride etc..
