Zumo 550 is a great jib. I've mine loaded with European and US mapping. The kit comes with all the bits and gubbins you need to mount it to the bike. It also comes with a mounting kit for your car that doubles as a bluetooth handsfree kit for your phone. Mine is linked through an Autocom system on the bike. Another option is to use a Scala Rider bluetooth headset. Google it for more info.

Only seen this thread now. My old man got one last week from www.gpsireland.ie He went to Crosshaven to the guys house to collect it. He is an ex-navy guy,an official Garmin agent and really knows his stuff. The old man is heading to France in April on his K1200LT for two weeks. He bought two from him (one for his buddy) and paid 580 each for them. They came with a written guarantee from the seller and he also registered them with Garmin for him. Any hassles and he is only down the road. Might not be as cheap as dabs.ie but when its on your doorstep you may aswell avail of it. It came with v10 softare and all the mounts. Very hard to put a price on piece of mind

Got mine from sat-nav in dublin. Its a garmin 500 deluxe. They will preload it for you. Comes with mount and two ways to bolt it on and all the wires to connect to bike. You can change the settings from bike to car so you can use it in either. it is also bluetoothed. you can also bluetooth your fone to it as well

Re: Zumo550

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Maybe, but on the phone, some European female could only do what seemed was ask another female colleague on the other side of the room, and relay messages to me (because the other colleague was too important to speak directly to me..) Then when I asked for a price if two units were being bought, she hung up......"[/
[/I]
B][/I]
The above post was made by this character regarding GPS Ireland and it has taken me until now to get onto this board to reply... I have to correct "Mr. Stig" - all the "females" in GPS Ireland are European - 4 of them in total - 2 from Ireland, 1 from Slovakia and 1 from Poland. And to answer his question the price for 2 x Zumo 550's is the same as 1 - do not know why it should be different??? And finally to put you right - you were not cut off - you were put on hold so that you could be transferred to the person looking after this product - perhaps next time you should ask for someone in sales before you start asking for pricing - it is rare that in any business someone who answers the phone deals with pricing.........

Be careful of your facts before you make nonsensical posts in the future....

If you want to talk to me personally about this - feel free to contact me in the office - 021 4832990 and ask for Gary Delaney - one of the owners of GPS Ireland.

Thanks

Thats great Gary. You have come onto a biker site, where bikers regularly discuss the relative merits of the only satnav specifically designed for bikes and bikers.

I've looked at your website - you are a gps and satnav sales and service company. Have you the marketing sense to make an offer to beat the price on this unit (Zumo 550) from any other Irish supplier for biker.ie members? Or are you going to pick a fight with someone who didn't manage to get your sales staff on the phone?

Offer a group buy of ten units at €475 inc vat each, delivered to members of biker.ie and see if your hand isn't taken off. Otherwise...
