irish road races flag Dubliner Jack Kennedy Wins the British Supersport title

Jack Kennedy was crowned 2018 Dickies British Supersport champion in the opening race at Brands Hatch after a dominant season with the Integro Appleyard Macadam Yamaha squad.

Had it not been for a mid-season testing injury, Kennedy would perhaps have cleaned up earlier having won an impressive 11 races this season, having finished no lower than second in any race he’s started.

Victory in Saturday’s sprint race while title rival Ben Currie was hit with a jump start penalty meant Kennedy carries an unassailable 66-point lead with one race remaining.

The title win goes some way to making up for the heart-breaking defeat the Irishman suffered back in 2012, when Glen Richards beat him to the title despite crashing out of the final race of the year as Kennedy broke down in the final stages.

“The season has been great, I’ve had ten wins and we’ve never finished off the podium,” he said.

“It’s probably been one of my most enjoyable years racing. I had a few injuries mid-season which we had to fight through, I went through the pain barrier to say the least and we came out with a second and a fourth injured at Thruxton. It’s a season to remember and to sign it off with a win makes everything complete.”

Fair play jack. In fairness to seealy he did pull out of a couple of moves he would normally attempt.
Roll on race 2.

Great result for Jack. Pity he got no mention on RTE, but young Mcglinchey did - https://www.rte.ie/sport/motorsport/...nchey-team109/

Probably just better PR person/media contacts.

A "Child" winning a championship would probably make a more audience grabbing storyline than an adult.

A fair few of you in the racing scene will remember Stephen Doyle back in 2016 as a regular podium maker in Pre Injection. Well I doubt his daughters results made a ripple of national news last year, https://15.ie/2017-uec-european-championships-live/.

Or this year - http://www.cyclingireland.ie/cycling...s-france/20134

Young Carly Hayes (Stephens daughter) has come away with European final placings for the last 2 years and still a long way off being a teenager.

This year:

Irish No.1

British No.2

European No.6

Sorry is this has been mentioned somewhere already, but what is Jack up for next year?

Is he staying in SuperSport or going elsewhere?
