Well guys, fairly new member and am looking for some advice from the great amount of knowledge people on this site have!!
I installed a Laser Xtreme GP system (still using standard headers) on my bike (K7 GSX-R 600) and removed the S.E.T (Suzuki exhaust tuning) valve so the butterfly valve in the exhaust is always open. Now im experiencing a flat spot in the throttle at 8k-10k rpm. It dosent really happen in 1st, 2nd or 6th! mainly just in 3rd, 4th and 5th! It hits the flat spot and then can suddenly jolt past it and carry on with normal throttle range. I know other riders with gixxers that removed the S.E.T valve and didnt experience the throttle flat spot so i dont think it's that, then again im not a mechanic. Im currently thinking my problem could lie with the O2 sensor (even though im not fully sure K7's have these, havent checked yet) or the Throttle positioning sensor? Any help is much appriciated, as it's ruining my life!! it is what laser would call a system as u can buy the can without the cat or link pipe and that would be the slip on version. Laser do not make downpipes for the GP pipes so in the gp system u get ur end pipes and ur cat. And yes i see where u are coming frm too. But it is what laser call thier gp system. Thanks for ur help with my problem.

The S.E.T valve is used to smooth out the power delivery and recitfy flat spots during fuelling to increase torque and rideability. This is most helpful at lower engine speeds, where most of us do 90% of our riding.
I cannot understand why people take these out, they do serve a purpose and unless your riding you bike flat out everywhere (ie. a race bike) the only effect on the bike is a negitive one! You need to get it re-mapped, either a power commander/Bazzaz Fi or similar, or if i was you, TEKA tune. DLM do TEKA tune, no hardware to purchase (as far as i know) and all you need to pay for is the Dyno time and the use of his software. |

This is yet again one of those great posts that keep me coming back here.
your bike was fine you made a number of changes a problem has now occured you convince yourself that the fault is NOTHING to do with the changes you made and you try and find fault elsewhere Try putting everything back to where it was I bet that fixes it................... |

Take the bike to John o Grady and he will remap the standard ecu
There's no need for a power commander or any of the other expensive shite Jog tuning in Tralee He did my k7 thousand and it had a similar problem and I came away with an extra 20 horses |

Why not call John at Jog or Danny in Dlm or any one else that has the set up to put it right for ya. Mixed information from people who don't spanner for a living "might" put you in a worse spot than what you are like.
They "Might" know their shit too but how can you know that To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater. As for taking cables or anything else off your bike I don't know. The lads mentioned already here definitely do as confirmed by those of us that paid them to get machines running right for us in the past.
