Default Cyclists - whats the law.

Nearly collected one of these darwin award contenders a few minutes ago. I was on the Monster and saw this guy on a racing bike up ahead. He was moving in a generally straight line untill I arrived behind him when he started meandering all over the road, even crossed the white line. The road was crap alright but it had been crap for a bout a mile, it hadn't suddenly got bad as I came up behind him -

- anyway no hand signals or anything. He must have known I was there as the Monster aint particularly quiet. I reckon he was just making a point, some of these assholes can be failrly territotial about there particular piece of road. I got by him without any drama but it knda annoyed me. How much right do these gits have, a lad at work who does raod racing reckons they have more rights than motorists and never get involved in roadside arguments with them as they ALWAYS go to the cops and make complaints. Anyone got any views on this?.

They have the same right to use the road as any motorbike or cage.
They /should/ signal and be aware of their surroundings, and they /must/ obey the rules of the road like anyone else using it.

We should give about 6' (2m in new money) when passing to allow for the chance they'll come a cropper and go tumbling into our path (bad for all concerned).

That said, they should also allow for faster moving traffic and ensure it's safe to be overtaken etc.

Can't stand cyclists. They are the worst of all road users. Never obey the rules of the road, get in the way of other traffic and generally piss me off.

I've seen some cyclists that aren't just a hazard to themselves but to bikers, pedestrians, parked cages, trees, rivers, low flying airplanes and so on, they put on the headphones, turn dickie rock up full blast and couldnt care less about whats going on around them.
but thats the minority, most are daycent enough and give ya plenty of room, there just colourblind when it comes to traffic lights thats all

Unfortunately if you hit one of these cnuts its a bad a hitting a pedestrian - you'll be the one in the shit when all is said and done.

They seem to think that any bicycle lanes, bus lanes or actually come to think of it any part of the road or path is their sovereign ground and they and only they have a right to it. But they are entitled to the same overtaking space as you would give any other road vehicle.

just be happy in the knowledge that while they are sweating their bits off we, on our bikes have the best of both worlds - power, and the freedom of outside world without either of the constraints of a bike or them other tings...

Too right, they are a law on to themselves...

the amount of times ive to swerve for the cunts, who dont bother with a lifesaver glance r anything..."oh an obstruction, il just swerve into the main traffic, and assume all will avoid me"

The one that really boils my piss, is the fuckin "professional cyclists" with ther lycra, and all the gear, not a brain between them, that travel in parallel, and hold up traffic, makin a point...i make my point when passin em too :)

I welcome the day, with the biggest grin, that any1 above the age of 16, will have to get a permit to use a bicycle on the public roads. lights, sam brown, helmet.

Interesting point. But we generally don't hold up cagers, we just make them feel inadequate.

What annoys me is that it's all to easy for them to report us for allegedly doing something to them yet we have no way to identify them whatsoever
