Default spot weld a drilled exhaust?

Hi folks,

Got a question that might save me a few quid...

Bike from the north and VRT on it is 220eur... The exhaust has been modded by the drilling the usual holes in the cone... So i dont think shed pass an MOT in the north... Is it possible to get the exhaust mod spot welded? To get her mot'd and taxed...

If this was cheaper than the VRT i would get it welded, mot'd and taxed and insured to my northern address

There's nothing usual about drilling holes in an exhaust.
Why would this have been done.

Can you not simply get some same diameter bolts and close the drill holes that way?

Well I wouldn't do it, but it seems to be a common way of modding a stock exhaust to make it sound a bit better (for cruisers). I bought a Dragstar last year and the previous owner had drilled a few holes in it. I googled it and there was a few forums online with pictures and guides showing what way to drill it.

Then I bought the Ducati last month and again, the previous owner had drilled a few holes on in the inside of both cans to make it sound louder.

As long as it's not offensively loud or sounds like its blowing out,
it should be ok.

The testers up here are more clued up nowadays but not Knobs either that fail bikes for the craic of it.

My K5 passed it's MOT but the tester pointed out the baffle was removed from my E-stamped road legal Yoshi.

He said it's not a safety issue so wouldn't fail me but it should be there and all that.

I'd say you'd be alright.

If they fail it,
Fix it and re-test.

Sorted.

Aye once I get a chance I'm gonna take it through to see what / if it fails. She seems to be 100% apart from that like so I might get away with it

That would be hard to weld up the holes
Be easier to make up a stainless plate to cover the whole lot in one go
Where are you
