Motorbike: SUZUKI RG250 MKIII GSXR 600 SRAD
Default any idea.

Yesterday took out the rg 250 to go for a spin. Didnt get out past the gate when it started to backfire and die. Drove it only last weekend and it was grand, tried again today and bang again, any ideas cheers.

Thought it was the float meself ,so i took off the fairing today and checked the wiring and hit the carbs a few taps with a hammer no joy .

if the bores were flooded already from a stuck float tapping the float bowl will achive nothing . take out the plugs and see if they are wet

it was grand last time out...when it was warm and all , how the fuck would the rings have worn that bad since it was running fine ?

Had one back in the early 90's and had a similar problem turned out to be the plugs
Change the plugs first and then go to the carbs
The plugs are an easy job before you go stripping

Fair flux to ya.

OP, fit fresh plugs and see if it starts then run it for a good spin. When you get home, pull the plugs and check the colour to see if it's running right. Make sure it gets the right plug grade as they are very sensitive to temp ranges.

Went to get new plugs at dinner time and the bike shop that i use to get oils and bits from is closed down gone.So went to a motor factors doesnt do them, so it maybe a few days before i find out if thats the problem.

had an er5 done the same as your bike stripped carbs replaced plugs and filter still did the same i then got a clear container put it under carb and loosened drain screw and found water in petrol drained tank bike went perfect

Well all got new spark plugs this evening the bike fired up perfect.Thanks lads.
