Default welding info needed

Hi,
My question is this. Can mild steel be welded to stainless steel (t304) without any chemical or physical damage due to different types of material?

What sort of welding is recommended for this?

It is for an exhaust link pipe.

Thanks,

James

Im not a Welder by trade but I am a Fitter and we have to do this often here at work. We use a TIG welder and use stainless filler rod when joining the two. Should be no problems as its only an exhaust joint

You can do it no prob use stainless filler wire if tig welding or you can get stainless to mild steel rods but there expensive, as for reaction you are welding 2 dissimilar metals and can get bi metal corrosion between mild and stainless steel but would nt be overly concerned as it is for the exhaust
