As above. I know its a bit of a silly question but when i was flushing the cooling system today there was something white'ish on top of the coolant after i drained it. It did feel like oily substance on the radcap as well. Would oil look like that or is it just some crap after the bike sitting in the shed for the past 6 month?
I have the system flushed and cleaned and see what happens. If the head gasket went could oil get in the water or would water normaly get into the oil? I'll check the water pump seal tomorrow and see what that looks like. The bike is running 100% from what i could tell after a short blast around the housing estate. Thanks. |

And vice versa, the coolant can get into the oil, check the dipstick. If there is no coolant in the oil, and just oil in the coolant it could be something else. I'm havin a similar problem with my 4 wheeled thing. Best thing would be to get the cylinders compression tested to see if there's a loss in any of them. If not then it mightn't be the gasket and could be a seal elsewhere. To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater. |

Head gasket is maybe down the list....its not uncommon to get this in normal running if you only use it occasionally and only do short runs. A longer run will dry it all out.
If bike has been sitting then there could be condensation in the oil.......oil change and Italian tune up If its losing coolant the coolant level should be going down and chances are you would get overheating.....just keep an eye....also check spark plugs. Water pump seal, just keep eye out... |

But, i had some coolant/antifreez mixed in before the winter. It could be the fact that it wants a service and some TLC. Sure i was anly looking for an excuse to go into the shed and work on it To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater. |

Running it a bit every week or two doesnt get it up to temperature. Needs to be driven.
Chances are most likely its condensation. Change oil and keep an eye out. |

Sounds like condensation to me, a little is normal for a bike sitting up for 6 months.
Flush all her bodily fluids out and keep her ticking over for a while regulary. ''My opinion is only an opinion, i cannot forsee the future so take this as advice only'' |

Was there gunge on the inside of the rad cap that looked and felt like mayonaise?... If there is, it's emulsified oil and you've got a problem. There shouldn't be any oil in the cooling system. |
