But I am having second thoughts

........ I dont know whether to but the new york kryptonite fahgettaboudit 18mm lock or the alarmed disc lock??

Does anybody have an alarmed disc lock??

Basically should I go for the noisy deterent or the heavy lock??

My oxford hardcore xl chain and lock is already in the post so I will use one of the above as well.

Thanks in advance

I go to college in town and there's no fucking way I would trust a disk lock alone. if it's not chained to something with a heavy duty lock and chain it only takes a minute for someone to throw the bike into the back of a van. No one pays any attention to alarms.

This, cant have too many. No lock is completely thief proof, the idea is to make your bike seem like more hassle to nick then other bikes.

FWIW a well experienced bike thief from finglas used to hate abus granite, he reckoned they were an absolute nightmare to get off.

disc lock on its own, and they pop yer front or back wheel on a plastic cage hub cap, and slide yer pride & joy down the street, lock it to something

I've the screamer on mine with an oxford chain lock aswell. If its busy outside you probably wont hear it much, but when my bike got knocked over the other night the alarm was plenty audible at two in the morning. But obviously not loud enough to make the fuckers leave it alone!

Best place in the city to lock her up! Plenty of bollards to chain it up to also, the alarmed disc lock would be noticed there all right if it went off

Thanks for all the comments. Yes I am getting the oxford hardcore xl chain for the rear tyre to lock to a solid object but-------- I was wondering would I be better off getting an alarmed disc brake lock or a very strong kryptonite lock for the front wheel?

I suppose i'll have to get both alarmed and kryptonite lock for the front and pray to jesus nobody takes it! Fuck sake, ,I knew it was too good to be true to enjoy my commute to work everyday

So the screamer will work if somebody is at your bike?? Is it sensitive or does the bike have to be knocked over??

It's fairly sensitive alright, if its touched, moved or the bike vibrates in anyway it'll let off four beeps, if left alone alone it will reset, if touched moved or vibrates again the alarm will go off. Mine was knocked over when i heard it but there was a time i grazed the wheel with the chain lock and the alarm went off. Could do with being louder though. Be hard enough to hear if there was constant cars passing id say.
