I unfortunately have to park my bike in dublin city centre................. I am about to buy a oxford screamer disc lock.
But I am having second thoughts To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater. ........ I dont know whether to but the new york kryptonite fahgettaboudit 18mm lock or the alarmed disc lock?? Does anybody have an alarmed disc lock?? Basically should I go for the noisy deterent or the heavy lock?? My oxford hardcore xl chain and lock is already in the post so I will use one of the above as well. Thanks in advance To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater. |

I go to college in town and there's no fucking way I would trust a disk lock alone. if it's not chained to something with a heavy duty lock and chain it only takes a minute for someone to throw the bike into the back of a van. No one pays any attention to alarms.

if your near pearse st, leave it locked outside the cop station, there is a bike parking area there, one of the "safer" places,

I've the screamer on mine with an oxford chain lock aswell. If its busy outside you probably wont hear it much, but when my bike got knocked over the other night the alarm was plenty audible at two in the morning. But obviously not loud enough to make the fuckers leave it alone!

Thanks for all the comments. Yes I am getting the oxford hardcore xl chain for the rear tyre to lock to a solid object but-------- I was wondering would I be better off getting an alarmed disc brake lock or a very strong kryptonite lock for the front wheel?
I suppose i'll have to get both alarmed and kryptonite lock for the front and pray to jesus nobody takes it! Fuck sake, ,I knew it was too good to be true to enjoy my commute to work everyday |

Mine was knocked over when i heard it but there was a time i grazed the wheel with the chain lock and the alarm went off. Could do with being louder though. Be hard enough to hear if there was constant cars passing id say.
