Default Question about buying Stolen recovered bike with the log book?

Hows it going lads, seen a bike today that was cheap and in good enough condition but it was stolen recovered. Your man says he has the book but it does need an ignition and petrol cap. Would there be any hassle in gettin those bits, fitting them and putting it on the road or is it just me?

If it were me I'd be getting a full check on it i.e. frame etc. How long was it missing for? You'll be getting it at a right price but its still risky. You take a risk buying any secondhamd bike anyway. Can you not find a similar model at the right price that isnt stolen/recovered?

Ah right so theres no actual law saying you cant?

Ye thats a good point but its at a major knock down price and funds are very low, ill be doing that 35 euro check on it definitely though to get its full history anyway.

Cheers for the advice

Could be a grand project.

Check the steering lock isn't broke off.

What is it?

nothing wrong with a stolen recovered bike, the only thing about them is if that the original vin number was grinded off, the garda actually stamp a new vin number on the frame and that should reflect on the book it has.
ignition & fuel cap, neh bother, just buy spurious or second hand ones

For the insurance to pay out on the original owner i'd say it would have had to be missing for at least 2-3 weeks so it probable had the shit run out of it, or you could be lucky and it was parked up and waiting to do a "job" with it. What bike is it? and what price, someone on here will tell you if its worth it or not

Just bought a stolen recovered bike with the number ground off, but it comes with a letter from An Garda stating as such. The seller was a reputable and genuine guy as well. Bikes perfect by the way. No damage to it at all. It's a few years since it was robbed.

sorry was away for a while in some bikes if the keys are lost you need to replace the ecu .thats what main dealer will tell you and charge you well for that, there is a crowd in the uk who can do a ecu on exchange you send your ecu and you get back a ecu and set of keys anyway a few hundred eur for that. not sure about aprilla lol .mine adwise ring to an aprilla dealer and see what the story is
