Default nifty fifty, helmet scrutineering.

Does anyone know if the helmets have to be scrutineered before the nifty fifty race. Will there be someone there in the morning or will all that be done on the evening before? thanks

Just got the email with the regs there today.. says "ONE PIECE LEATHERS ONLY"

WTF.. anyone know what the craic is, was this just decided now this week or has it been known for a while. We have our bike fully ready to race, everything ready to go, lids, gloves, leathers (2 piece) and may have to withdraw from the race now..

on the plus side for someone.. if we're forced to withdraw we'll have a fully prepped bike for sale.. top 10 finisher, never missed a beat in both previous races, loads of spares.. want's for nothing, dunlop TT tyres and all ..

Yea its Full race leathers only as per the Regs. Helmets must be full face, be less then five years old and have the stamp inside to prove it.

You can of course share lid's and leathers as long as they fit correctly.

I have a spare set of leathers to fit some one 5'10" and 11-12st weight.
I'll be there myself on the day so can bring them with me.

Default Re: nifty fifty, helmet scrutineering.

I was onto Fran Scully, the helmet scrutineer and was saying helmets need the following

22-05P safety standard number (apparently the P letter being including is a must)
13 digit "E" number
date of manufacture (under 5 years old)
double "D" ring fastening.

I knew the 2nd,3rd and 4th items.

Whats the difference between EC22-05 and EC22-05P ?

I can only see the EC22-05 on most helmets for sale on the web. My shark RSR2 is toon old and i need to get a newer one.

This has never been a rule. Unless its new in this year
there's never been restrictions on the clasping mechanism

Just spoke to Fran Scully and he has confirmed -
The clasp on the Helmet does not have to be a Double-D ring
- can be other types also (quick release buckle, etc...)
