I could use cheaper stuff but whats the point when you are trying to build something special.
I got mine done using the dunlop alloy rims i had,so rims polished,S/S spokes, shoes re-lined,hubs skimmed, new tyres and rear brake plate blasted and powder coated, not saying what it all cost, but i still wince when i look at the invoice.......!They did a lovely job though.

I guess I'll back out here. I'm from the wrong time period. A time when a Triton could be built for under 100 quid. Not exactly beautiful but cheap. Rolling chassis 15 quid. Engine, a fiver. Can't remember what I spent on the rest but at the time I rarely had two pennies to rub together so it wasn't a lot.

yeah bill and you could buy a good house for £30,000 and a mansion for £60,000 , them days be long gone bill. you couldn't get a pair of tyre's for a triton or anything else over the size of a moped now for 100 quid , let alone build a triton for it.

I meant to add that for the 15 quid for the rolling chassis I got a 500T Norton engine as well. I was talking to Sykes' Dad some time ago and Sykes told him whenever Sykes mentioned current prices he winced like he had been hit with a cat o' nine tails. Seeing current prices I wince too!

At that time my Dad turned down buying a house in Glasthule for 7,000 pounds because he thought it over priced. For 60,000 you probably could have bought Dublin Castle.

I'd have thought it's about time somebody put a decent set of USD forks on one of them (and maybe a double headlight and set of flat bars to complete the look..)

I see your point. USD forks, double headlight etc. And while your at it you could replace that flimsy featherbed frame with a good solid alloy perimeter frame and a big stiff, triangulated alloy swing arm. Oh and for good measure dump that weenie gutless 650 Triumph engine. Stick in a good solid Hayabusa or something with some power.

Now thats what I call a Triton!!

What he should have built if he'd had even an ounce of common sense.

Not exactly a Triton. A Dommi belonging to a friend. He had just laced and fitted a Yamaha 4LS. If the seat looks a bit high its because he's 6' 5" ( whatever that translates to in metric I don't know. He's tall.).
