Default Re: Best for pre 97

whats your budget? as pre 97 would be part of the pre injection class (yes its now pre injection in the southern championship too)

R6 would be your best bet IMO, i know of a very capable one going for a 2500 asking price, fully kitted out with all the best bits

if ou goin out planning on being competitave r6 is the way to go, but if your just startin off dont mind where you finish, just getting out for the experience a pre 97 would be the cheapest way about it

, youd pick a good pre 97 wit a good few spares for around the €1000 or one cheaper without the spares

pre 97 championship is gone ,but you can race them under the pre injection class next year.Under the new rules all pre injection bikes ( including pre 97) have to run threaded tyres

Make sure you get something with standard engine, have a look at the regs. You dont want to get caught out with an overtuned engine.

A pre97 machine is an ideal starter package to get into racing on a limited budget

@dave400 I'm looking forward to pre97 v pre-injection..

A newer bike with more power dosen't always mean quicker lap times..

thanks for the info lads very helpfull, if im going doin it i would be wanting a competitive bike, that said it being my first year im pretty sure id be testing the leathers out so maybe a cheaper bike to start with,might just stick to trackdays for the first bit of the season and do a few races when ive got to grips with the bike,but i would take it a r6 would be the way to go for that class,what way are the engines and boxes in them or is there anything to look out for in particular, thanks lads

Cbr600 are bulletproof but R6 would be more competitive.
I'd go for a well sorted CBR600 F4 99-2001 i think the pre'injected once.
