Default Is 37k mls on a 93 ZZR600 a bit much?

Hello, im interested in buyin a 1993 ZZR-600 with 37k on the clock & i was wondering if that means theres big things to be done to engine.

Ive had newer bikes before but i now need something thats more for commuting & cheap. I found this bike & its really clean looking - fairings, wheels & it rides sweet but im a bit put off by the mileage in one sense but then again it is a 93 plus ive hear of engines in 600's lasting up to 60/70k.

Any help would be great

i hear what ur sayin, the previous owner had it for a good few years & supposedly just used it to get to work, which would match up with what u say & explain why the bike looks so clean. I dont think he was into going for mad ride the wheels off it sunday spins. But i might be wrong

I think i'll have a mechanic look over it coz i do like the bike. I read the zzr motors can go to 50k without hassle then its cam tensioners & valves checked which would be great if i got that much out of the bike.

Anyhow thanks for the input

Best option if your not too sure on engines get someone to look at it for you. Most things visible are easy enough to sort ,i certainly wouldn't be put off by the mileage it could be good for that much again if it's been looked after..

put 1993 zzr600 into google and there is a good few sites with reviews etc.
here's one for you

If it's well looked after i reckon it should be good for a good few more miles if you can get it ata reasonable price. That review site gives it about 87/100 for reliability and problem free driving. i have a zzr1100 and haven't had any problems from engine gearbox etc. just regular maintenance stuff. They are designed as sports-tourers so long distance, high-mileage driving must have been intended. I came across an owners site before for the zzr600 but can't find a link to it at the moment. Have a google for it i reckon. Best of luck with the decision.

thanks for the link, i did a few googles & got a bit of info on the zzr & i really like the sound of them - ideal commuter/tourer with a bit of power.

I found this link for used bike guides

I wouldnt say that would be a problem bobt - sure you know yourself, speedos are fairly easily disconnected, have been stung on that myself in the past, so you could be buying a 20Ker that has had the clocks disconnected for years...at least with a higher mileage (doesnt sound unreasonable for a 14 year old bike anyway) there's probably a greater chance its genuine...

If youre happy with the bike, the price and the man, bring along an expert for a goo before you commit...Just my 2c...

If it looks clean and has there is evidence it has been minded, and you are getting it for the right price it should be fine. Always best to get an experienced second pair of eyes to check it for you.

Engine should be fine once its been well maintained. I'd take a good look at the likes of brakes and especially suspension to make sure they are functioning well.

Also budget for a good service, better off gettin all fluids and filters changed, along with plugs, a carb clean/balance and a valve clearance check.
