I don't know if you are being done or not because I haven't seen your bike. Just spotted its a VTR250 - these were not sold in Europe so parts aren't easily available.

Wemoto do a good range of bits on these, see they have cam chains on the site but nothing about tensioners. try David Silver spares in the UK they can get any genuine part. have the chassis number to hand and give them a call

Have my VTR250 a few weeks now love it. I have a good mechanic out in Straffan that had it for a week and has it running like a clock (had been sitting up in a shed for a few years and needed a bit of tidying)

Let me know if you want his details. Great bikes!

Thats ur problem right there, used to be treated like dirt in there- less said the better about that place! Go elsewhere! My advice is get the part in yourself and ring around for labour costs. If u want a hand with part numbers etc ask me! Is it defo the cct- has the bike been diagnosed by a pro?

there is a fair bit of work and time involved, and the price of the part,so i dont think he,s ripping ya off,how much an hour dose he charge and how many hours will it take ???? considering the bike is there now and stripped down(seen it last week),no point asking people that dont have a shop or can do it in their back garden shed, you,r getting it done by a shop with a mechanic so you know it be done right, and if its not you can bring it back,,,,,,so if your cousins mates da knows a bloke who,s brother in law that used to fix trucks but is retired now can do it for ya,,,then bring it there, but you,ll still have to pay for the work that has already been done,

He is obviously covering his Ass by quoting you for Genuine Parts so they are gonna be that bit more expensive. Haven't seen the Parts/Labour breakdown so can't answer the ripped off or not question.
I can say though, I have been dealing with that shop (and others too) for over 20 years and I can honestly say I have been well looked after in that time.
