You were used as a drugs mule - a load of cocaine was hidden in your lights and the Bosnians waited for the right moment to collect the cargo.

Forgot I'd posted ths one. Entertained as I've been reading through this, I reckon that's the most logical explanation. Not a guarantee but there is a logic to it alright.
Taxi driver I met who'd lived in London reckoned about 20 organised criminal gangs there robbed bikes to order. They'd drive around and keep a log of where bikes were and at what time on what days. When they'd get an order they'd look up their book and know where to rob them. Presumably if they were that professional they'd do their homework on bikes first. Maybe with the 5p or the lights? If the owner worked where he could see the bike he's interrupt the lights being unscrewed. Not beyond reason.
On a slightly different but also similar note a Spanish bloke I met in Morocco told me that a number of years ago he went to rent a KTM in Morocco and was given his own bike. It had been stolen from Spain the previous year and obviously shipped an re-registered in Morocco. He bought it back off them at a cut price (they accepted cos he'd have gone to the cops otherwise). It was so well reregistered that when he tried to take it back to Spain and explain what had happened, they wouldn't believe him. He had to import it as a Moroccan bike!
