This is a very much a total overhaul of the engine and thanks to Mickey the monkey for the use of his thread. i had to get shown how to start a thread.
Story is got a engine to fix with a future transplant in mind or so on sat in shed since last year until now to do. So finger out and the hoard of parts in. I have fixed a few cbrs mc 17 19 and 22 but this is the most intense i have had to go on a engine. With that in mind i kept a log of pictures to show those that have sick cbr 250 whats inside theirs if it goes pop. I will stick up pictures of the parts new in packaging showing a part number so if you need to get the same part from your local dealer they will be able to assist you. Feel free to comment and ask questions if you know of a better way i should be doing something let me know so others can learn from it too. Just replaced the seals in the waterpump new gasket to gear selector cover and new seal. next oil pump and pan in filter and clutch to follow. |

new seals in around the oil pump oil pan put back , new filter, bolt, spring + gasket. the purple tack is to hold the gasket in place as there are no dowls to seat from. A fresh oil pump chain fresh seals inside the clutch basket and dummy up the basket assembly before i put in the fresh clutch kit.

Gettin there at last, sump closed up. clutch dummied up with the old plates.
fresh o-rings in the centre of the clutch. little bit of a knack involved in getting the basket back in. needle bearing and sleeve out while inserting. settle everything to see if fit is ok. |

Moving Forward the 1st photo is of the full clutch kit springs plates and fibre too.
the 2nd shows the gear train from the clutch basket to the head, was a bit freaked out it wouldnt sit right, pulled back out the clutch basket put in the gear train on the head nipped it down bloody thing felt stiff. panicing here. turned it by hand checked dowls. Then it hit me like a brick the gear train has a anti back lash on it with springs and stops slop. real dullness on my part. The new plates have a bit more meat on them and the ebc outer narrow disc the thin one has a bit more meat over the original. Thats my clutch holder and is a good bit of kit i got from Demon tweeks a good while ago. I am leaving the plates soaking up in a Motul 5100 semi overnite before i fit. Question for those in the know i have seen some where there is a right way to fit steel plates is it bevel in or out. But the bevel is marginal on it and i think it should be in. More a result of the way the plates are pressed from the sheet steel. May as well do it right as not. so any help appreciated. |

Old clutch pack out and new one to go in well oiled up and after soaking.
New clutch release bearing centre nut and sprung washer with the outside symbol. A bit of help needed to lockup the clutch centre nut 60Nm I had a choice of 2 clutch nuts to use for this the other version needs a castle socket i have the tool but who ever is in next might. New clutch rod seal as it will stop any rain and moisture in. The green tin is gasket remover used right is effective at helping to remove paper gaskets. Any half decent motorfactors can get you it. New paper gasket set in place with loctite 534 or hi tack as some call it. Once the centre nut is in and torqued i dimpled the nut to stop it working loose. When i was fitting the springs i twisted them around on the back of the bearing carrier. it stops them twisting and makes it seat better. |
