Default Knocking when cold

Hi guys... I have recently bought a suzuki gz 125 k6 thats only done 3,500 miles but when I start it cold it knocks pretty loud till it gets to up to normal running temp then seems ok apart from it gets a bit noisier when it gets under load just before changing up a gear like exhaust is blowing but no signs of a leak ,valve clearances & camchain tensioner ok new propper grade oil & filter , I have used a long scewdriver to my ear to try & locate noise & its a toss up between camshaft / rocker arms & when I put screwdriver on the clutch opperation arm its very knocky ( not normal clutch engage rattle ) but lessens a little when I hold clutch lever in but still lumpy does anyone know if this is normal for this type of bike ?

Hi and welcome to the

forum....

I'm no bike techie, but, as far as I'm aware this knocking noise you are hearing (when cold) should go when your bike gets up to temp. Most bikes are wet clutch, meaning your enine oil lubes your gear box aswell (I stand corrected on this). Pulling the clutch dampens the noise, but, I generally dont drive my bike unitll the temp. reaches at least 32-35 deg's.

Hopefully it nothing, take the advise of the guys here and you cant go wrong, worst case bring it back to the shop

If ya load the engine by letting the clutch out until it starts to bite and hold the front brake, you'll feel it through the bars and foot pegs if it's the big end.
It'll be most noticable when the motor is stone cold.

Thanks I did try it with front wheel against a wall & footbrake on & it didn,t seem to get any noisier but the engine was hot when I tried that I will try again tomoz when cold . Im thinkin of taking clutch cover off & having a look to see if any play noticeable , Then maybe take head cover off to look at cam & rocker arms . Also not 100% sure if valve clearances are the same for k6 as they are for earlier models as they did alter them after k1-2-3 & according to haynes , i've set them to k5 spec ? Haynes dont have a manual after 2005 tryed everywhere & a suzi dealer said they have never altered who do you believe ?
