Default DIY Ignition advancer, looking for Info/Help/Ideas

I'm thinking about moding my current ignition signal sprocket to ignition advancer.
As far as i know all i need to do is off-set it by would say 4 degrees to make it into 4 degrees ignition advancer.
Looking at the picture below it looks like if one/some of the little positioning "teeth" inside were grinded off then i should be able to change the position of the signal sprocket making it into an advancer.
Does any one has any experience in this.
Im just not sure which way i have to off-set it to make the ignition advanced and also how many positions to off-set it by?
any help is appriciated.
Thanks.

id leave the sprocket alone andrei, id look at making slotted brackets for the pickup coils so's they can be adjusted to suit, if you mod the pulser ring(sprocket thingy) you cant put it back very easily, with the pickups modded they can be moved back and forwards to give you the ability to put it back to stock if it dont work out

Ye would never get every one equal if ye were to grind the teeth.
There only cheap to buy the normal advancer 30 squid or there abouts...

looking at the sprocket you could say there is 20 teeth. offsetting it by each tooth will move it by 8 degrees.. you're not going to get 4 degrees..

If you go this route, with a decent adjustable timing light.
You can make up some timing marks on the pickup plate ( in one or two degree steps ) and the housing at home, so you can adjust the plate at the track in repeatable steps, till you find the right setting.

Nice one mate. Was thinking same but for some reason thought modding the pulser ring would be easyer.
Which way will i have to move the pick up to advance the ignition?
To the left(back of the bike) or the right (front of the bike)?
Will have to make a circuit with devided into 360 wedges to measure the 4 degree off-set.
Thanks a lot.

Found two in USA but neither say how many degrees they advance the ignition by (have e-mails sent to both).
The once in UK go for 55 GPB+P&P=65GBP=almost 90 quid or so (in euro) - not cheap for me, thats an Entry Fee for one race mate.

4 degrees is the norm for optimum,i would be very surprised if the advancers you were looking at could not be adjusted to this. The aftermarket ones are usually fully adjustable so you should in theory be able to advance from 1 degree to say 20 or 30

Depends on rotation direction of shaft ( you need to move against the rotation direction ) save the headache on the circuit and use an adjustable timing light ( strobe ) you can then mark up for whatever advance you want then.

If you mark the current position you can use a protractor ( very cheap ) to mark up the advance position from there , and work out where to draw ( stretch ) the holes to

if yer camchains on the right side of bike , looking directly at it the pickups would need to go anticlockwise to advance the ignition , or the advancer would need to be moved to the right .
