I was wondering what the catch was. This is on a UK plate so you'll need to pay VRT and VAT because of the low mileage (under 6,000). The penny drops. Its a shame really because I was very interested.

VRT is €905.I wonder how much the VAT would be?How do they calculate that on a second hand bike?Going by the Revenue website it seems(correct me if i read this wrong)that anything with under 6000kms is classed as a new vehicle,
does that mean you pay VAT on honda's new list price?Anyone clarify?

I think you pay the vat on the price you purchase it for. But I am open to correction on this. Even that would mean and extra twelve hundred notes!

Not sure how the VAT is worked out but I'd be worried about them charging the new price worth of VAT. However, you will eventually get the UK VAT back if you pay the Irish VAT. That would be total cost - 17.5% vat + 21% vat

There's also the question of how long that sort of claim would take. Places like that aren't always the easiest to get money out of! Having said that somebody on here must have done this............

There is VAT to pay because of the mileage. Are you going to pay the VAT yourself?

Again, I'm open to correction but I think he gets away with it as he's owned it for more than six months?

2. In certain circumstances, CCT and VAT may also be payable. For VAT purposes a vehicle is a “new means of transport”
when it is less the 6 months old OR has travelled less than 6000 kilometres. Vehicles supplied within 6 months of the date of first entry
into service are deemed to be “new means of transport” for VAT purposes even though the vehicle may be more than six months old
when presented for registration in the State.
