Try these lads, they sell/specialise in only wood-burning stoves near coolmountain in Dunmanway. Great service off em and cheap prices, hundreds of happy hippies swear by them! well worth the trip down to see em

best of luck with it

i know a lad that installed a wood only stove in his house, worked great on paper,
i.e 25 kgs of timber burned within 1 hour gave enough heat output to heat a buffer tank and / or heat the ceramic chimney breast for 36 hours.
no ash / waste, therefore clean with minimal maintenance

the main problem was
the timber needed to be ideally at 12% moisture content, max moisture content permitted was 18%, otherwise the stove was inefficient and the excess moisture was evaporated off and turned to cresote within the chimney and stove.
the timber the lad had was an ash tree which was cut and stored in a dry shed for 2 years. the moisture content was at best 25%
he ended up using off cuts of dried timber such as that used in internal 2nd fix, or roofing
it ended up being a total waste of time

I just put one in the fireplace in the kitchen for heating only. Mad yoke, burns everything from wood offcuts to turf. No coal though, the gas builds up and can explode.
Kiely stoves in mallow do the ones you want todd i think. Have a chat with Dillon, i think he has one installed in his gaff in Douglas. Get on to big Mick, he might let ya have a load of unsold Gibson's and Fenders for burning in it.

Yeah, with plenty rags soaked in petrol & oil to get it going. I often saw them glowing red hot if you used coal in them. Happy days in Kilworth Camp!!

@ Tod, I've got a solid fuel stove with built-in boiler in my living-room. I use coal, timber & briquettes in it & it heats 8 rads no bother. Throws out great heat to the living-room too. Got it in Cork Builders' Providers last year, around €1100 I think. From what I've heard, wood-burning stoves are a bit of a bollox because the wood must be totally dried out before you can use it, otherwise you'll have problems. I looked at wood-burners before I bought my solid fuel stove but the problems getting absolutely dry wood put me off.

only thing is whith the back boiler one when you light them you put enough in to burn for the night cos you cant open again till its out cos you get tons of smoke out, where the ones with no back boiler you can open all you want.

an the timber dont have to be that dry at all

I know your not in Dublin but this may be of some use to the Dubs on here.

Bought one 2 weeks ago, its not a free standing one.
Basically it sits into the standard size opening of a fireplace & is set up tight against the firebreast.
Seen it in a shop in TJ O`Mahony`s in Balymount Dublin, it cost €280.
Went into another place 2 minutes up the road & they were selling it for €800, the terms were that they had to install it & that was approximatly €150.

I installed mine in 10 minutes.

Moral of the story, have a good shop around before buying

You can get a stove without the boiler miles cheaper than what I paid for mine. I needed the boiler. Take a look in Builders' Providers & see what they have. They have them in MD O'Shea's in Ballincollig too but they are fairly pricey.
