Default Someone robbed my...cover! Attempted robbing?

Woke up to a very naked looking bike this morning.

At some point in the night someone took my cover, pretty sure they were/are eying up my bike which is great for the stress levels.

Will pick up another cover today and another heavy duty lock.

My bike is locked in the front garden to a ground anchor, 2 brake locks and a motorbike lock on the front, will add an Abus chain lock to that today and a cover that I can loop the locks into.

Anyone else lock their bike outside have any other security tips?

Are you sure the cover was taken? it may have blown away as happened to me making me think my bike was being cased, you could be panicking over nothing, I hope you are

Thats what I originally thought but the cover has a clip to keep it closed to the bike, so that would have been undone, it was also really tight to the bike as well.

It happened to me a few years ago, never figure out if it was stolen or blown away...

I still wonder to this day... was a cheap cover too, so no idea.

I doubt anyone trying to rob your bike would make it obvious that they'd tried to rob it if they were intending on coming back.
I reckon they just wanted the cover... or it was the wind.

Wasn't really a windy evening though, and if it blew away I would have found it. It also had an elasticated rim on it so it was pretty secure to the bike.

Ill take measures anyway.

When I rang up Almax to order my big fuck-off chain, we had a good chat and he told me to get some long distance walkie talkies and leave one in the mode where it transmits if there's noise. If you're motivated enough to charge the fuckin thing every day then there's that

Some of the oxford covers come with eyelets that you can run a chain lock through, both front and rear. Makes it more difficult for the scrotes to work quietly.

So an update on this.

My neighbour has a camera installed that faces out onto the street here. He had a look back over and at about 4:00am this morning, a silver Ford Focus pulls up just past the house, turns off its lights and reverses to my garden. Passenger gets out and is in my garden for about a minute, leaves with the cover and puts it in his boot and drives off.

I am guessing it was an opportunistic steal of the cover, which I have replaced now, complete with a lovely heavy duty chain, and disc alarm.

The cover also has the eyelets front and rear.

Unfortunately not, the resolution isn't high enough, although its made me go and buy a 1080p camera from Amazon.

Personally I would be upping security.
No one just decides to steal a bike cover at 4am on a whim.
He was casing the bike, if they think it will be an easy target they will be back for it.
Tie a hungry german shepard to it....

Security has been upped, armed disc lock, heavy duty chain and a new cover with eyelets that you can thread the lock through.

Also getting a camera for the front.

Not sure he was chasing the bike, the video showed him in the garden for a minute, they came in a car not a van, and if they were after the bike, why would you let the owner know like they have so now I can take better precautions to secure it?
