Motorbike: F800GT
Default 2003 Fazer FZS600

Bike Make : Yamaha

Bike Model : Fazer FZS600 (fox eye)

Year : 2003

Price : € 1000

Mileage : Above 100,000, read below for details.

Colour : Silver

Extras : Stainless steel downpipes (sandybikespares), double-bubble screen, rear hugger, fender extender, K&N washable air filter, upgraded rear caliper (from FZS1000) etc.

Overall Bike Condition : Average

Tyre/Chain/Sprocket Condition : Done around 10k.

Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work : None - it was serviced at various places over last 10 years, and I did oil and filter myself time to time.

Non Restricted/Shop Restricted/Factory Restricted : Not restricted. Chopper restricted it back in 2010, and it was removed later. Is this even relevant now with the A1/A licenses?

Bike Location : Drogheda

Irish/English Registered : Irish

Any Other Relevant Info : Bike needs work - Read on only if you like fixing things up, because this bike needs it.

Where do I even start. I bought this in 2010 from a guy in Rush. It was English reg then, I paid VRT etc. It had 35k miles on the clock. Chopper restricted it until I got full license a year later. Restriction came off and I commuted on it ever since, rain or shine. It rides really well, pulls away like a train, and it's a Fazer, cheap to maintain and keeps going forever just keep changing oil and filter every 6000 kms.

Now, full disclosure - it's not without issues. There are a couple of cracks in the fairing, mainly from me rolling into the back of a GS1150 at traffic lights in Dorset St (braked late and incorrectly - just the rear - slippery road surface + target fixation = bang), headlights and fairing were pushed back after that (and cracked the expensive madstad fairing system as well) - I fixed the fairing stays etc eventually by myself so everything is normal now. Rear brakes kept collecting dirt and binding, and eventually seized on me on M50 , so I changed it to a Fazer 1000 rear caliper which is a very desirable and expensive upgrade.

The clock stopped working at around 48000 miles, after a front tyre change. I suspect the guy broke the magnetic sensor yoke. I bought another one and gave it him to fit at the next tyre change, and he said it didn't work - BUT - it's the same guy who charged me new air filters as part of two different bike service, and when I went to have a look the filter hadn't been changed at least in 10 years (I changed it to K&N, which made the bike amazing again). So yeah, I don't know if I can believe that man, so perhaps that's worth trying - although it's very possible that some other component has stopped working over years of not moving. I am working out the total miles done based on my commute over the years (it's probably around 110k miles). I have removed the center stand and it's sitting in a bag in the shed.

From fighting the elements as a commuter, there are various other minor niggles - rust mostly, cable tie here and there and what not. Yeah, it's fair it to say it needs a good bit of TLC. It also needs a service, calipers cleaned out, probably new brake pads etc.

More recently, the exhaust clamp broke, and that took the last half inch of the down-pipe that's connected to the exhaust with it. So yeah, now it either needs like a 1" pipe and spot weld (perhaps) to get the exhaust back in place - or ideally - a great opportunity to upgrade to an after market exhaust and link pipe.

Please feel free to have a look and decide what it's worth it ciaran13.

I am thinking - given I haven't had a chance to find a 2" piece of pipe and a strap clamp to mount that exhaust in place, I will let go for €750.

Cool judging by the pictures I wouldn't pay that I could do €500 not trying to insult you but that's what I could pay for it thanks

No problem ciaran13, no offence taken! No interest in selling it for less than €750 though, I would rather fix it up and keep it as second bike.

I have someone viewing it this weekend, will update after that.

She's mint. Good as new. Already reduced from 4000. No interest in swapping for used dvds or knackered PS3s.
