I donít drive anything without one, sad thing is in Ireland cops donít want to know, not admissible... GDPR... bollixology. In Uk they take the footage seriously, there is even a function on my app (nextbase) to send the footage direct to cops for evidence, as usual we are about 30 years behind the brits

Mine is Wifi connected and I can hook it up to my phone for control/download if it was the case it was confiscated by the guards but they are used in cases against the defendant.
They use CCTV or fixed camera positions and the guards are always seeking the publics assistance for for dash cam footage.

Keep using them or go buy one, better to have than not to have!

If a woman's underwear is used as evidence in court for a sexual assault case, something for which there is no relationship whatsoever to the alleged event, then a video - an independent third party witness - of the specific event in question, has got to be admissible. If your insurance co's solicitor can't make that happen, they should get another job.

precisely.

You can present any evidence you want in a court case, Its up to the judge to decide whether it is inadmissible or not, NOT the gardai.

In fact if a guard refuses to accept or use video footage that you provide as support for your case I would be pretty certain they leave themselves open to a civil case against them if the case goes against you.

Yeah, given that he himself provided the evidence needed for a conviction. Cops wouldn't have had a leg to stand on otherwise.

While I agree with; "if ya can't do the time, don't do the crime". Lets just say that chap must be really strapped for street cred' if he had to make a point of getting caught..
