Default Stupid Insurance company's.

I am insured with carol-Nash on my Keeway Speed 125 and I wanted to upgrade to a real motorbike. So I saw a 1997 BMW 1200RT for €1500 on done deal.I will get a Quote on that me thinks.I have 4 months left on my current policy which has no no-claims bonus.Carol-Nash said they would put the bike on my policy for an extra €50 for the remaining 4 months.I was told by my mechanic they were a costly bike and that a 1997 would start to give trouble so i decided to forget about that bike.I then went on to buy another bike i saw on adverts.A Kawasaki ZZR600 I thought to my self they were going to insure me on a 1200cc so i will have no problem with a 600cc only to find out they won't Insure me at all until the end of the year when I have a year No Claim Bonus. Now im stuck with a bike which I can't Insure
I'm totally going NUTS!

Did you get a quote for the ZZR before you bought it?
If not, you can hardly blame the insurance company.

That’s like saying they will insure me in a eight liter Massey Ferguson but won’t insure me in a five liter sports cage

well, I thought seeing they were going to insure me on a 1200cc a 600 cc wouldn't be a problem. Surely the BMW 1200 is a faster bike than a Kawasaki ZZR 600

I suppose I will have to unveil it in December when I will have my one years no claims bonus. Got a really good Quote for €250 for the year from Principal insurance. so carol-Nash can go and ---k themselves.

yes, I had a CBR 1000F for about 5 years 10 years ago but that counts for nothing as you lose your no claims after 4 years.

It sucks donkey balls, but to them you're the same as me- a noob moving on to a bigger bike. Whatever rules they have, they're out of touch with reality. Try ringing again, maybe you get a different salesman. It's stupid, I mean i moved on to a bike with 4x the bhp of my previous one and insurance is cheaper than it was on the 125 (my 1 yr NCB is only valid in 2 weeks from now). But in your case yeah, they see you moving from a 125 to a spaceship. Try going the restricted way. Surely a fella around here would do the job and paperwork for ye

So the insurance for your busa should naturally be less than your VTX1800?

Once again, have it restricted/get a cert saying it's restricted, same as the lads going for A2.

There aren't enough of these in the smiley box>>>
Just as an example... a 1200cc Harley Davidson has about the same power as an egg whisk. It's not about CCs

Try MCE. They renewed my policy recently. I'm sure they'll insure you on that!
