Default Re: Stupid Insurance company's.

any bike with an R in it is considered a sports bike....

eg......GSXR FZR ZZR CBR......they are all sports bikes in the eyes of insurance companies.
And weapons of mass desruction in the hands of the inexperienced....

Thats why you can't insure it

Both bikes are rated as group 13 (out of a maximum of 17) on
the rating system used by UK bike insurers.

They probably regard the ZZR600 as being a more 'sporty' bike
than the RT. This will make it more difficult for a young or
inexperienced rider to get a quote for insurance.

Surely the BMW 1200 is a faster bike than a Kawasaki ZZR 600
Both produce around the same engine power. The ZZR600 has a higher
top speed. The RT will produce more torque and be more flexible at low speed.
Either bike is a big step up from a Keeway 125, so be careful when you get
it on the road.

Just as an example... a 1200cc Harley Davidson has about the same power as an egg whisk. It's not about CCs

Motorbike: The all mighty GS
Default Re: Stupid Insurance company's.

Jaysus lad, I don't know about jumping from a 125 to any of those bikes. Not sure how the insurance agreed to the RT even...

Have you ridden any of the two? Forget about the power, just the size and weight of either bike, it's a different ball game all together.

Try with Axa and see if you can do the Rider's assessment with your I.B.T. guy. I had to do that when I bought the GS right after I got my full license, only way I could get the insurance with less than a year legally riding in Ireland, my foreign license was not recognized here so I was fucked.

Best of luck with it.

You clearly didn't read the thread "lad"!
Or the OP users name for that matter.

Thank you all for your time to reply. Just for the record, I am an experienced Rider. I have had a CBR1000 for 5 years about 10 years ago. I had a really bad crash lucky to have survived it so, I was scared for a while that's why I bought the Keyway to get me back into it and now I'm bored with push bikes passing me by sort of speak.

Ah you'll find the ZZR fine, had one, they are solid, good brakes and handling and good fun to ride, great engines too. No more bicycles passing you

I don't have a solution but can sympathise with your predicament, and have nothing helpful to add other than a Kawasaki ZZR600 would probably be as big a pile-o-shyte as the BMW

A bandit 12 fits in the category of being easily insured, has all the torque you'll need and they're comfortable and reliable...

Definitely need a few bob thrown at them, shock, fork springs, full system and dynojet kit with k&n filter.... That's enough to make them a bit more lively. Wouldn't be my first choice bike but when all I could insure was a bros 650 my mate managed to hop on a b12.... I still preferred the bros but displacement is always welcomed 😂

Liberty insured me on my R6 without a years experience. I've 12 years NCB on a cage with them though, not sure if that made a difference
