Default Info on touring France/Spain please.

Toying with the idea of riding down to Spain around the Christmas holidays as I'm off for a while. Il be travelling solo, if anyone has experience riding from France to the centre of Spain I'd just like to ask a few questions on time/distance and routes....
Just want to check if it's fieseable at all before I start planning properly.
If a fella crossed the boarder at the western coast at San Sebastián would ice and snow be an issue the end of the year??
Thanks in advance

It's highly unlikely you'd see ice or snow. You're probably looking at temps between 5 - 10 deg

I've done the trip from Cherbourg to Playa de Aguilar in 2 days, but that was going some and about 700km/day. I think Saint Sebastian is about 1000km, so you could do it in a day if you just wanted to get there quickly, but you'd be bolloxed at the end of it.
Two days would be easy enough, at 4-5 hours a day riding.
Take plenty of change with you. There's a shit load of tolls on the motorways. You can probably avoid them by taking scenic routes, but you'd probably need to add a day to your journey.

There is a good possibility of ice and snow that time of year and alot of the passes may be closed over the Pyranees.
Really depends on the weather but have a few routes checked out and make sure one of them is a tunnel route trough the Pyranese just in case the gods are against you.

The west coast of France is nice, havent been to far into spain but sounds like a good Idea that time of year.

Get a lonley planet guide book for each country so you eat well, stay in reccomended places and find clunge in the bars.
Treat yourself well on a journey like that, how long ya thinking of taking to do it?

Cool.
Getting a tattoo on the 22nd so go from there straight to ferry spend xmas with family member in Uk then Patrick's day some stage il head across uk to catch boat to France make my way down to Madrid. Il have 6full days to get there and back roughly. As I said this silly idea only hit me today and only if I can get someone to look after the dog and stuff will I even consider it seriously.
Sound like a pretty cool adventure though, and I'm stupid enough for it

Not looking great at the moment. Having an issue with getting a ferry back from France. Does anyone know about the Channel tunnel? Can you travel it with your bike? That may be an option to get back...

Yeah herself says that.
I think I have ferries fairly sorted. Sure there's a ferry between Calais/Dover multiple times every day and it's sailing 1st and 2nd of Jan.
The ferries on the west coast are not sailing that early.
Would you prefer to take the train through the tunnel or the ferry???

West coast of France you have some chance, and possibly just one overnight, but Calais down through centre or east of France is asking for cold weather issues. Short days etc. You will need at least 2 overnights each way and even that's really pushing it in winter. You will be looking like Fagin when you get back.

That trip across England is shite.
I prefer the Cherbourg-Rosslare ferry. It's a long trip but it gives you a chance to sleep before getting home.

Try to get back to the EuroTunnel at Calais while its daylight.
There will be big ques cause of French and then British security checks and passport control too.

Also those refugee camps are stating back up again and the fcukers are blocking the motorway at night with tree trunks, bricks and wheelie bins. The french police are trigger happy these days and searching allmost everyone cause of all the shit going on at the EuroTunnel.

Speaking to a French guy at work this evening and he seems to think snow/Icey weather conditions could be an issue. That was always a possibility, must speak to him more tomorrow.
