Motorbike: motorbikes
Default BMW R80 GS Basic

Bike Make : BMW

Bike Model : R80 GS Basic

Year : 1998

Mileage : 180'000km

Colour : Blue/White

Extras : Luggage Rack

Overall Bike Condition : Mechanically Perfect. Plastics a little tired now paint wise, but no damage.

Tyre/Chain/Sprocket Condition : Shaft drive

Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work : Full Service History from Maddocks

Non Restricted/Shop Restricted/Factory Restricted : N/A

Bike Location : Dublin

Irish/English Registered : Irish

Any Other Relevant Info :

Dad bought this bike new from Maddocks in 1998 and has used it in and out to work for 19 years. It has 180'000km which sounds amazing, but the engine has no wear at all.

Dad never abused it or thrashed it, it was allowed warm up for 2-3 minutes before use and had its oil changed regularly. It has used one clutch in all this time and when it was changed at 100'000km the lads in Maddocks said it was half worn!

The bike is still his everyday machine, but advancing years means he finds it hard to get onto it at 72 years of age. So he is selling it on to buy a Triumph Street Tracker which is low and light!

This bike is mechanically perfect. It starts easy, ticks over and runs like a dream. The paint is worn as would be expected on a 20 year old everyday machine and the seat cover is worn but that is honestly its only downfall.

The brakes are perfect, all electrics work as they should and the tyres are 80%.

The R80 GS is the most sought after of all the GS models. This one is a cracker one owner from new. A current classic never mind future classic. There is one for sale for 11'000 stg up North at the moment and I know one sold on Ebay for 9000 euros a year ago.

I'm pricing this at 6500 euros and am happy to negotiate a little. Test rides welcome with money handed over first.

Please no tyre kickers, low ball cash offers or part exchanges.

Contact details: PM me

Price : 6500 negotiable.

Personally I think you are nuts to at that go out of the family!
I'd bet my last rolo you will end up searching the country to get that bike back in a few years for yourself.

Do yourself a favour and buy it off him yourself then take good care of it.

Syke's Dad bought it new from Maddocks in Bray. Can vouch for this bike as I've ridden along the road with him and he's one smooth rider. As for mileage, the engine could easily handle the same again and more.....just a pity he isn't up for a part-ex with a Bonnie
