Its easy.

2 inch wet patch on the riders t shirt is 1st gear
4 inch is second gear
8 inch is third gear
15 inch is fourth.

Shirt flapping is overrun/neutral.

They don't do 5th. Rider is too big for a 5th gear and the Velosolex collapses.

BTW theres 4 gears on a Velosolex,slow,very slow,very very slow,and stopped.
There's also an optional "fast" setting but this is not recommended unless you exist on an alternate plain of consciousness and/or have a death wish.

The 'fast' setting is an upgrade. You upload it over 12 weeks at the Superman Power Gym and Sauna Club.
